Vehicle Description
Chevrolet has achieved many milestones throughout its decades of
motorsports dominance. From simple, strait-line dragsters to
meticulous, mid-engine endurance racers, the bowtie brand has made
a serious habit of enjoying the spoils of victory - an addiction
that seems natural since, after all, the marque was both founded by
and named after a scrappy race car driver. Over the years, that
on-track excellence has grown beyond cars and drivers to include
engineering and support roles. Not only has Chevy won at Indy, it's
had the honor of pacing The Greatest Spectacle In Racing more times
than any other manufacturer. And, among the marque's line-up of
esteemed Indianapolis 500 Pace Cars, perhaps no model is more
revered than the 1969 Camaro. That's why cars like this
MacNeish-certified drop-top are so cool! The beneficiary of a
professional rotisserie restoration, this all-American icon wraps a
hearty big block in acclaimed aesthetics that are guaranteed to
stand out in a sea of Cranberry Red Chevelles. Looking for a
unique, factory-spec classic that commands attention? Check out
this awesome Camaro!
USA-1
One of 3,675 1969 Camaro Pace Cars produced, this authentic,
MacNeish-documented drop-top shines bright thanks to a professional
rotisserie restoration. Naturally, the car's sculpted profile looks
great reflecting Dover White two-stage under tight vinyl, Hugger
Orange brow stripes and requisite Hugger Orange Rally Stripes. In
case you're a purist, our sale does include a full set of Pace Car
door decals that our skilled technicians at the RKM Performance
Center can readily install. However, door decor or not, there's
simply no doubt this clean Chevy rolls as a choice collectible that
honors all-American icons and celebrates worldwide historic
milestones!
Timeless good looks kick off with a polished bumper that guards
Rally Sport parking lamps, a D80 spoiler and a familiar Rally Sport
grille. Opposite that sentry, a Camaro-branded header leads a short
Cowl Induction Hood, which fronts stainless-trimmed glass that's
cleared by satin-finished wipers. At the sides of those blades,
traditional mirrors reflect factory door handles between intricate
fender badging, optional quarter louvers and tasteful rocker trim.
And at the back of the car, a second polished bumper joins a second
D80 spoiler to frame requisite Rally Sport taillights and a clean
Super Sport valance emblem.
SS396
Pop this Chevy's striped and polished hood and you'll find 396
cubic inches of correct big block glory! A perfect combination of
oxygen and fuel comes courtesy of a dressed air cleaner, stainless
fluid lines and a reliable Quadrajet carburetor. Below that carb, a
sea of brilliant Chevy Orange paint covers the block from its cast
iron intake all the way to its stamped steel oil pan. At the back
of that intake, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through
pliable Carquest plug wires. Below those wires, correct iron heads
center polished valve covers on restored exhaust manifolds. In
front of those tubes, tight belts spin a Delco-Remy alternator
opposite factory power steering. A reproduction radiator pushes
water through pliable GM hoses and tight tower clamps. Those
components are, in traditional fashion, seated in a slick, Satin
Black frame. And that pigment is dotted with world class detailing,
like familiar fender bars and a reproduction Delco Moraine brake
booster.
AS IT SHOULD BE
Under this impressive F-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis
that, like the car's glossy exterior and lust worthy engine, has
been restored to very high standards. The aforementioned big block
leads a tough Muncie 4-speed, which twists power to a requisite
12-bolt axle that's been verified as original by Jerry MacNeish.
That stellar drivetrain pushes a restored factory suspension under
over-restored floors. Factory power steering complements power
front disc and rear drum brakes. Aluminized exhaust crawls through
throaty turbo mufflers. And power meets the pavement through
stylish Chevrolet Rally Wheels, which twist F70-14 Goodyear
Polyglas Custom Wide Treads around early Camaro centers.
HOUNDSTOOTH AND HUGGER
Open this F1's solid doors and you'll find a Deluxe Orange
Houndstooth interior that's, well, to put it bluntly, much cooler
than anything found in modern cars. That handsome cockpit is
centered on fresh bucket seats that are finished with factory
headrests. At the front of those thrones, a dressed dash hangs
factory telemetry next to a Delco AM/FM radio. Deluxe door panels
cage fade-free carpet around a factory console that's finished with
4-pack gauges and a traditional Hurst shifter. And the driver turns
an attractive Chevrolet Rally Wheel.
Featuring handsome aesthetics, solid restoration and a rockin'
drivetrain, this choice F-Body is the ideal car for cruising AND
showing. And if you're in the market for some timeless muscle with
an unbeatable combination of style and performance, it's a perfect
candidate for your next classic!
