Chevrolet celebrated the fifth model year anniversary of their legendary Corvette with an offering that featured new body panels, a restyled instrument panel and interior as well as, for the first time, quad headlights. The results were apparently a hit with the motoring public with sales of the sporty two-seater from General Motors rose to 9,168 units from the just under 3,500 cars sold in 1957.
The 1958 Corvette also followed the then-current trend of offering considerably more chrome trim than previous models. The 1958 model offered a choice of four optional 283 cubic inch powerplants over the standard 230 horsepower, 283 cubic inch unit and came standard with a three-speed manual transmission with optional four-speed manual or two-speed automatic. There were also three optional rear axle ratios available allowing the buyer to create a much more performance-oriented vehicle than the base model.
A buyer could order carbureted engines with two four barrels displacing either 245 or 270 horsepower or two Rochester mechanical fuel-injected offerings featuring 250 and 290 horsepower. Both fuel-injected engines were only available with manual transmissions.
There were numerous extra-cost options available for the 1958 Corvette. In reality, the heater was an option but only about 1,150 Corvettes were built without a heater. A soft convertible top was standard but a removeable auxiliary hardtop was a popular option. A total of 5,607 hardtops were sold, but 2,215 buyers took advantage of exchanging the factory soft top for a hardtop so only about 3,400 cars were sold with both the convertible top and a hardtop.
1958 was also the only year between 1958 and 1962 where yellow was offered as a factory color option. A total of 455 cars were built in Panama Yellow, with only 190 of them featuring the two-tone option with white coves. Only the combination of Inca Silver and black coves (36 units) was more rare than the Panama Yellow and white combo.
Evergreen Digital Showroom presents this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette for sale at a price of $94,900. This car has been a part of the present owner’s portfolio for over 30 years and is one of the 190 examples built in Panama Yellow with white coves. Power comes from a base model 283 cubic inch engine displacing 230 horsepower backed by a three-speed manual transmission (3,348 cars). The car is also fitted with the rare (649 cars) power window option. A factory AM radio is also present in the dash. Both the convertible top and the auxiliary hardtop are present, an option on 3,392 cars. The white soft top has definitely seen better days and is something a new owner might consider changing. To say that the color combination and the options on this car make it a very rare vehicle. The car’s odometer reads 44,059 miles, but we cannot confirm this to be the actual mileage. In accordance with statutes regulation licensed auto dealers in the state of Missouri, the vehicle will be sold “mileage exempt” due to age.

Because of the number of vehicles we represent we cannot drive every vehicle for long distances. These vehicles have been part of static displays for long periods of time, in some cases for decades, and are subject to the flaws and imperfections consistent with that. While we do our best to disclose all issues we known about a vehicle in our advertising, these are old cars and something that has always worked in the past might not function properly today. Please check the requirements of your state regarding the licensing and registration of classic vehicles and make sure the vehicle you are looking at meets those if applicable. Unless otherwise noted, all vehicles represented by Evergreen Digital Showroom possess a clean (non-branded) title which will be provided the new buyer when purchase funds clear our financial institution. Virtually all our vehicles are sold as mileage exempt due to their age. We do not warranty any vehicle, nor any part of the vehicle including air conditioning systems, brake systems, electrical systems and gauges, fuel systems, accessories or powertrain components.
These are old vehicles and it is very common for them to require certain maintenance and upkeep for them to be operational. In many cases issues with leaks may develop when being driven after a long period of not being used. This is common, as classic cars at some point will leak fluids. For this reason, we do not encourage buyers to attempt driving their purchase home as we cannot guarantee functional reliability of these vehicles. We strongly encourage prospective buyers to be sure they are comfortable with these issues before purchasing a classic car.
Descriptions of vehicles represented by Evergreen Digital Showroom are intended to be informational in nature and do not in any way constitute any sort of warranty, expressed or implied. Again, these vehicles are presented “as-is, where-is” without guarantee or warranty. Vehicles manufactured prior to 1981 will likely not be included in the databases of companies such as CarFax and AutoCheck that provide vehicle history information to consumers. If you have specific questions regarding a vehicle we urge you to contact us at 417-532-8000.
