Vehicle Description
We already know the Chevrolet SSR is a future classic. After all,
it has V8 power, sports car handling, a folding hardtop, and a
unique retro-style design that's impressive from the moment it
comes into sight. But not all were created equal. Later examples
like this 2006 SSR came with the Corvette's fuel-injected V8, and a
rare few also took full advantage of this power with a six-speed
manual transmission. And the rarest feature may just be the factory
two-tone. So have you realized yet that everything making this
low-mileage SSR a standout today is also what keeps it desirable
well into the future?
This car has barely gone over 12k miles in the last 15 years.
That's quite tantalizing when you start to see the full package
that is presented here. Chevrolet built these at a special factory
that was much closer to hand crafting cars. So they were able to
offer special options, including two-tone paint. While this Smokin'
Asphalt and Ricochet Silver are seriously attractive, not many
people were willing to pay for the extra. So It's also seriously
rare. It's believed that there were less than 250 ever done in this
color combo! And the only owner thus far understood how special it
was, and that's why it has a babied presentation today. The alloy
wheels are mirror-like, the panels look terrific, and the wood
slats of the truck bed have such a glossy finish that looks like it
never even hauled home groceries. This is truly a collector-grade
example. In fact, the only piece we can find that isn't stock is
the checkerboard pinstripe separating the silver and black. And
while this vinyl addition is removable, it's the kind of style
element Chevy should have always done with the SSR.
The black interior with a silver waterfall in the center console is
the ideal coordinating two-tone with the exterior. So you'll be
quite happy to let the hardtop power down and give you a clean and
sleek roadster appearance. The interior has been just as babied as
the exterior, but preservation is only part of the appeal here.
It's a loaded modern classic with supple leather power bucket
seats, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, front airbags,
side airbags, anti-lock brakes cruise control, keyless entry, and a
premium AM/FM/CD stereo by Bose. Plus, with ice-cold air
conditioning and heated seats, you can stay comfortable with the
top down nearly all year round.
These later SSRs received the Corvette's LS2 fuel-injected V8, and
a six-speed manual transmission was a rare option that was made
available. Plus, a lucky few knew that if you ordered the stick
shift in the final model year car like this 2006 model, then you
unleashed the most powerful package offered from Chevy. In fact, a
rare example like this did rival the Corvette for power. Out on the
streets, the sports suspension with rear sway bar, four-wheel disc
brakes, and grippy Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires come together to
deliver a modern muscle machine disguised as your favorite retro
truck.
The sale comes complete with the original window sticker and
owner's manual. This unique and fun machine comes with all the best
features to keep you enjoying it for years to come. So while we
call it a future classic, we also know you can't resist it today.
