The car's solid body, authentic 1963 Corvette fiberglass that was
massaged to near perfection by Corvette aficionado Jeff Hayes,
looks simply stunning in glossy Platinum Metallic two-stage. At the
front of that rich pigment, spotless 'razor blade' bumpers bend
around a tasteful stainless grille, which floats between bright
amber parking lamps. Behind that grille, a crisp header emblem
leads a 1963-exclusive hood, which fronts a tinted greenhouse
that's trimmed with polished frames and capped wipers. That glass
gets reflected in a classy bowtie mirror, which perfectly
complements Satin Black rockers, traditional door handles and
throaty side-pipes. And at the back of the car, two more spotless
bumpers reflect sporty taillights, a crisp Sting Ray emblem and an
ornate fuel filler.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE
Levitate this coupe's electric bonnet and you'll find 6.2 liters of
divine GM small block. Officially known as the Chevrolet
Performance LS376/480, that trusty engine twists a respectable 495
horsepower into 473 lb./ft. of pavement-slaying torque! At the top
of the block, a satin-finished air box slinks breeze through a
proven GM throttle body. Smooth TSP Velocity fuel injection lines a
fabricated Velocity intake and rectangular-port L92-style heads.
Factory coils fire hot Taylor plug wires. A nodular crank, powdered
connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons provide stout 10.7 to 1
compression. A hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency.
Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases
through short stainless headers. There's a beefy aluminum radiator
that's slid between a dressed support and a chrome puller fan. A
polished Eddie Motorsports serpentine drive spins a polished
alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. And, as you likely
deduced from our high-resolution photos, the fresh mill rolls in a
satin Platinum Metallic frame that's finished with niceties like
trick dipsticks, a familiar Wilwood master cylinder and classy
Corvette coil covers.
NOT STOCK AT ALL
Park this Sting Ray on a lift and you'll find a full Coffman
Corvette chassis that mixes a spry fifth-generation Corvette front
suspension with a steady sixth-generation Corvette rear suspension.
At the middle of those professionally assembled bones, a smooth
automatic transmission deals power to a spry Dana 44 differential
that, like the aforementioned rear-clip, was borrowed from a
sixth-generation Corvette. Turns come courtesy of power
rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are provided by
sixth-generation Corvette Z06 brakes, which squeeze 4 and 6-piston
calipers around a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. And torque
meets the pavement through seventh-generation Corvette Z06-style
blades, which twist chromed spinners inside 235/40R18 Toyo Proxes 4
Plus redlines and 275/35R19 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus redlines.
DRESSED TO IMPRESS
Swivel this classic's doors and you'll find a tastefully upgraded
cockpit that combines timeless second-generation Corvette style
