single family ownership since the assembly line at Metuchen Ford in
Edison NJ. After WW2, the grandfather of the previous owner from
who we have acquired the car worked on the assembly line. His
father (his great grandfather) wanted a new car and this one was
identified on the line to be his. One of the workers wrote "Marty's
Car" on the firewall during the process. It supposedly went through
the paint shop twice to get a second coat of paint as a favor. His
great grandfather had the car until his death, then his grandfather
had it until his death (2001). The grandson then took possession,
replaced some brake parts and fluids, and drove it out to
California and we aquired the car from him.The car should be
considered in 'driver quality' condition. The car has it's original
factory color paint which is in exceptional condition for it's age
despite obviously some imperfections and flaws due to it's age! The
interior is also all original and should also be considered now to
be of above average quality considering it's originality. The car
has it's original 383/280HP V8 engine and Merc O Matic automatic
transmission and it drives very well. The front and rear brake
shoes have been replaced and are all in good shape and the car
stops nicely. Front and rear shocks were replaced by previous
owner. Rear differential has been topped off. Trunk is clean with
no rust with original mat, spare wheel and jack. Both the body and
the undercarriage show no evidence of any previous rust or
accidents. This is a wonderful all original driving one family owned
survivor from 1959 with original selling docs and recently acquired
from long term family ownership. It reportedly boasts 53K original
miles and although it will require some TLC and attention it
remains a very rare good daily driving all original survivor
classic. Issues requring immediate attention include the reverse
gearing which is slow to engage and the muffler which is blowing.
Please note that the windshield also has a crack in it. Otherwise
the car drives very well, stops on a dime and always starts and the
compression is good.We recently acquired the car as it is and have
priced it accordingly.
