Vehicle Description
This 1971 Buick Skylark has a terrific vintage style with the cool
two-tone, sleek hardtop profile, upgraded overdrive transmission,
and an impressive 455 V8. So at a price like this, you're looking
at quite a tempting big power cruiser.
The best Buicks of the '70s were both premium and powerful, and
this one delivers it all in the first impression. It has a muscle
car-like hardtop profile similar to its Chevelle sibling. But
there's an extra hint of sophistication with the sharply pointed
front end and a hint of an extended rear (it gives a bird-like beak
and wingtips to this Skylark.) You see it well on this example
because the panels look particularly nice. It's finished in a shade
of green that is pure 1970s cool, and the white roof looks like
vinyl from a distance, but it's just a well-done durable paint
separated by trim. Form-fitting chrome bumpers, correct/classic
badging, and classic Buick Rallye wheels complete this vintage and
attractive total package.
The green interior looks quite original, and it has the kind of
earth-tone you love on a '70s machine. Buick's touch of premium is
seen again in details like the pattern on the seat's cloth insert
coordinates with the door panels. And there's wood-like trim on the
dash, doors, and steering wheel. This was an intermediate car in
the '70s, but by today's standards, that means plenty of room for
family and friends. You can even keep them all happy with the AM/FM
radio. But even if it's just you going solo, this Buick will keep
you smiling. The dual-spoke steering wheel gives you a view of the
full round gauge pack with large speedo and tach. Plus, the
auxiliary gauge under the dash and B&M lock-up converter
controller are an indicator that you'll love what's under the
hood.
This may look like a classic/premium Skylark, but under the hood
lurks the heart of a GS 455-style beast. The 455 cubic-inch V8 has
the tidy kind of style that will make you want to show this off
everywhere. The bright red block, matching Buick valve covers, and
clean overall look shows there was a solid investment. In fact, we
have thousands $$$$ in receipts documenting this motor's rebuild.
It now includes .030 bored over, Speed Pro forged pistons, Moly
rings, ported heads, an Edelbrock intake, a four-barrel carburetor,
headers, and more (call for the full detailed list.) It's also
supported by the right pieces, like a full MSD ignition package and
an aluminum radiator. The transmission is now an upgraded
four-speed automatic that you control the mild or wild with the
lock-up converter. Plus, you have power steering, power brakes,
front discs, a rear sway bar, and a Positraction rear end for
all-around good driving.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and maintenance
records. If you like your classic coupe to be both distinctive and
powerful, don't let this custom Skylark slip away. Call
