Vehicle Description
Regular readers already know that a lot of handsome Advance Design
pickups run through our showroom, but very, very few of them are as
nice as this gorgeous 1950 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window. With incredible
red paint, an aggressive stance, a powerful 383 Stroker V8, and a
lot of tricks up its sleeve, this is the one you've been waiting to
own. And with only 18 miles on the build, this slick hauler is
practically brand new.
We've said it many times before: if you're going to paint it bright
red, you need to invest the extra time to make it worth looking at,
because you're going to get A LOT of attention. Well, the guys who
built this truck did exactly that, spending nights and weekends in
the body shop sanding the sheetmetal. Then they sprayed several
coats of some of the most brilliant red paint you've ever seen, and
spent another few late nights wet sanding and buffing it to bring
up a brilliant shine. So, you know it's pretty darn nice, maybe not
quite a "trailer-queen", but wow, it's really very nice. The other
thing it is, is slick. No gaudy graphics, no obnoxious flames, no
major distractions from the clean shape that looks flat-out
awesome. There were some clever alterations from stock however,
including the deletion and smoothing of all the trim/chrome sans
the horizontal grille and front bumper, frenched-in headlights, and
a custom smoothed tailgate and roll-pan set-up in the rear. In
fact, the entire bed was made over, beautifully finished and
painted inside and protected by a hard paint-matched cover that's
power actuated, and just below the roll pan features a custom
trailer hitch, license plate holder, and LED taillights. The glass
was all replaced as well, headed-up by the custom V-eed windshield
up front. There's just nothing on this truck that wasn't tweaked to
a very high level before being bolted back on.
It's also very comfortable inside, thanks to a nicely finished and
elegantly simple custom interior. The original bench has been
covered with tan leather and red inserts, and with matching door
panels, it's easy to forget this is an old pickup truck. Tan carpet
below and a custom headliner above tie it together in a rather
handsome way, and the painted tilt steering column is fitted with a
custom 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel that upgrades the
'50s theme inside. Elegant Classic Instruments gauges were
installed ahead of the driver in a symmetrical pattern, which gives
them a very trick look and the billet shifter on the column has an
old-school vibe that works extremely well. A neatly installed
Vintage A/C system looks very sharp in the painted dash, while up
above there was a custom console fitted into the headliner that
houses switches for the power windows and a modern AM/FM/AUX head
unit that manages the tunes.
As you'd expect, this Chevy still carries Chevy power, via a
freshly installed 383 cubic inch Stroker V8 in this case. With just
18 test and tune miles on the rebuilt engine, it runs superbly and
looks fantastic. It's very functional, with an Edelbrock 4-barrel
carburetor, HEI distributor, polished intake manifold, and a lot of
polished parts to make it glitter. The rest of the engine bay is
beautifully finished too, offering smoothed and painted inner
fenders and firewall, providing a great backdrop for the bright
bits on the engine. The undercarriage has been finished for show as
well, where you'll find painted components and new parts
throughout, including a Mustang II-style setup up front with power
rack-and-pinion steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes with slotted
rotors, and fresh shocks, springs, and bushings everywhere you
look. A sturdy 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and a Ford
9-inch-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears inside round out the fresh
powertrain, leaving you with no worries about reliability and
transforming it into an easy high-speed cruiser. The soundtrack
comes via ceramic-coated headers that feed into a stainless
Edelbrock dual exhaust system, and my goodness does it sound
fantastic at full bore. Finally, Torque Thrust style polished
wheels put a modern spin on the truck and wear staggered 225/55/16
front and 275/60/17 rear blackwall radials that help set the raked
stance.
So yes, we sell a lot of these. But not a lot of them measure up to
the standard set by this beauty. So, if you're looking for a great
one, it's just arrived. Call now!
