The Carrera 3.2 is admired as the pinnacle development of the
original 911 that first appeared in 1963. These final G-Series cars
replaced the SC Series cars in 1984. They were the last of the
original Porsche 911 design before the 964 bodies launched in 1990.
All Carrera 3.2's feature galvanized bodies, which ensured these
classics would be far less prone to rust than their early models
which were non-galvanized.
This original factory optioned M491 Turbo-Look Carrera Cabriolet is
rare with only 1,684 produced worldwide. Due to emissions
restrictions during the early to mid-1980's, the 911 Turbo cars
were not legal for US importation. In 1984, Porsche resurrected the
M491 option giving these cars everything the Turbo cars had but
with a normally aspirated 3.2 Liter engines. This extremely rare
option cost about $12,000 at the time. This cabriolet was also
fitted with desirable options including air conditioning, cruise
control and an electric soft top.
This M491 Cabriolet has benefited from proper maintenance and care
throughout its entire life. Originally sold in Texas, it remained
there until its recent ownership in France. The 911 has recently
received a full repaint in its original Marine Blue metallic color.
This rare cabriolet feels tight and drives exceptionally well. With
a large service history file, it was most recently serviced with
new tires and a new clutch slave cylinder.
This rare M491 Cab is complete with its original books, tire kit,
spare wheel, jack and large service history file. It is excellent
throughout and ready for immediate enjoyment.
