The 356 SC was the final iteration of the 356 introduced for the
1964 model year and featured disc brakes all around. It was the top
of the 356 standard product range in its era, the only thing that
would top an SC would be to have a 4-Cam Carrera. This 356 SC was
produced on May 14, 1964 and is a numbers matching example with the
following factory options: Electric sunroof, Headrests, Tinted
glass all around, Two pairs of safety belts and Dunlop tires.
According to the 356 registry, the 356 was initially purchased by a
United States military service member who was on tour in Germany.
It was shipped back the States in 1965 and sold to Mr. John Sadler
of Texas. Mr. Sadler enjoyed exceptional long-term ownership
keeping the 356 highly original and in excellent condition
throughout. The 356 was sold in 2009 in Maryland to PCA member Jan
Borchardt. Upon purchase, Borchardt commissioned a concours quality
rotisserie restoration by marque specialists. Any and all areas of
concern were addressed with a total cost over $100,000. Currently
fitted with a Porsche wood steering wheel; the original wheel is
included as well.
In Porsche collector ownership, this 356 SC was always serviced and
maintained regardless of use. It has received a recent full major
service including new tires, timing adjustment, carb tuning, fluids
and a new starter. This 356 represents a rare opportunity to
purchase a numbers matching, freshly restored and rare Sunroof
Coupe in exceptional condition throughout. It is perfect for
concours events, touring and rally alike. It is complete with all
books, tools, records, original steering wheel, factory Kardex and
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
