The XJS debuted in 1975, succeeding the famous E-Type, it was a
completely new design language for Jaguar. Initially launched in
Coupe form with the E-Type V12, later Series II XJS' for the early
1980s featured a new 3.6 liter straight 6-cylinder available now as
a convertible as well as the 5.3 Liter V12 for the Coupe.
The third and final series of the XJS debuted in 1991 with updates
including a new 4.0 Liter straight 6-cylinder engine, V12 in 5.3
liter form and a more powerful XJRS version with 6.0 liter, 304bhp
power plant developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing "TWR", TWR also
responsible for Jaguars Group C racing efforts. Further upgrades to
this final version included revised rear brakes and more
aerodynamic front and rear fascias. The XJS V12 Coupe was the
flagship Jaguar at its time and came highly optioned with every
Jaguar amenity for its targeted discerning buyer. Both elegant and
sporty, the XJS represents a significant piece of Jaguar
history.
