For Sale: 1951 Mercury Monterey in Lutz, Florida

Vehicle Description

This car is the exact reason the custom car scene is so hot. This 1951 Mercury Monterey is a custom build that borrows all the best pieces from cool classics and expertly integrates them onto an iconic lead sled. So look over every inch - from the well-presented V8 to the A/C interior - and discover what a true work of automotive art is all about.

You instantly know there was a lot of time and effort in this build from the first impression. It has all the right lead sled elements you expect, like the frenched headlights, shaved door handles, dual spotlights, Corvette-style hubcaps, faux lake pipes, and a toothy grille. Inches were expertly taken out of the roofline to give this a terrifically sleek profile. And speaking of sleek, the Robins Egg Blue paint has a deep gloss and shine that comes from a professional hand applying it. So you really get to see the creases and curves in the sheet metal as they glow in the sunshine. And there is a sophisticated two-tone where a Buick-like sweeping side trim makes a great dividing line for the dark blue.

When you open the door, it reveals more of the thoughtfulness that went into the interior. The darker blue of the exterior now returns inside for a classic tuck and roll insert on the seats and doors. It's also used for the carpeting, steering column, door tops, and dash. This is joined by a bright white on the upholstery, headliner, and even the steering wheel. So this looks custom, uniform, and well-planned. Plus, you have great features like cold R134a air conditioning, power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo w/CD changer. The vintage steering wheel gives a great view of the full gauge package. And added details like the pinstriping and tall 8-ball shifter really remind you this is a custom cruiser.

There's plenty of style under the hood with the classic Cadillac-style air grabber custom painted in the car's two-tone. And even the valve covers were done to match. And there are more details to this award-worthy style, like the upgraded pulleys and smooth color-matched inner walls. At the heart is a 307 cubic-inch V8 that's enhanced with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. But more than just a good power package, this one was built to be a fine cruiser. That's why you have features like power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission. Those classic whitewalls even hide a more modern tread.

A low-slung and strong-running custom like this doesn't come available very often. So if you want an icon with true distinction, call today!
