For Sale: 1972 Volkswagen Baja Bug in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

You don't mistake a vehicle like this 1972 Volkswagen Rail Buggy for anything else out there. It has a purpose-built full setup to be a terrific off-road machine. And it has the suspension and four-wheel disc brakes to be an absolute blast. Plus, as you look over the full package, you'll see it has the right pieces to be street legal in most places.

This is titled a Volkswagen because that's the vehicle that donated the most parts, but this sand rail is really a lightweight custom build. It's a lightweight but strong chassis with the metal panels in just the right places for protection. There's thoughtfulness in the full build. You can choose to have a canvas cover over the footwells, and there's a full rack over the metal roof. Plus, this has a windshield, side mirrors, full turn signals, and a license plate mount. So this off-road machine is going to also be street legal in many areas. And no matter if you're lighting up the pavement or leading the charge in the dark, the full light kit on the roof will show the way forward.

The interior is exposed but secure. That means racing-style bucket seats and Racequip harness to keep you locked-in. There's a removable sports steering wheel and crisp VDO gauges. That's all great for the off-road racing lifestyle. You'll even notice there's a winch up front to get you into and out of plenty of fun.

The Volkswagen flat-four and four-speed have always been an ideal pairing for this application thanks to its robust nature and air cooling. This 1600cc motor is a great base for upgrading, and there are a ton of easy/affordable components out there to do it. And if you really want some big power there are Subaru flat-four powerhouses that fit in here, too. No matter how you choose to motor in this machine, you have a serious suspension to back you up. The consignor states there was $10k invested on the components alone. And the powder-coated long-travel setup is ideal for moving over uneven territories. It's supported by the right pieces, including a spun aluminum fuel tank, Optima red top battery, four-wheel disc brakes, and TSL Super Swamper off-road tires on proper beadlock wheels.

This is the purpose-built machine that was built strong and done right for all-around fun. So if you want to dominate the dunes (and maybe turn a few heads at a cruiser-in) this is the one. Call today!!!
