To compete with the Impala Ford introduced the Galaxie in 1959. It
was produced from '59 to '74 and the name was meant to bring
excitement tying it to the Space Race at the time. Of the cars the
higher series was denoted as a "500" or "500XL" and only a year
after they were introduced the body style was redesigned. This
redesign lasted until 1964 and the 1964 500XL 2 door hardtop like
what you see here left a legacy of being the best selling XL ever
produced. This nice '64 was originally built in Dallas so there is
a good chance it has been a Texas car most of its life. The car has
been repainted 1 year ago in a nice White Pearl and is all rust
free. It wears all of its original chrome and trim. The glass is
all good with no chips or issues. It rides on a set of its original
wheels and hubcaps but also comes with a second set of spoked
hupcaps if you decide you wanted to change up the look. Those
wheels are wrapped in a fresh set of Cooper Cobra Radial tires.
The car is powered down the road by a 352 V8 motor topped off with
a 4 barrel carburetor. The AC system works well and has been
entirely redone converting it to the modern 134 refrigerant. It
also has a completely new dual exhaust system and sounds great. The
car runs and drives really well. It has an automatic transmission
and all the suspension/brakes are stock and working properly.
The interior is done in Black upholstery and is in good condition.
The headliner was just replaced. It has dual bucket seats which sit
to each side of the original center console which houses extra
storage space and the shifter. The dash all has the stock look
except for a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash next to the
underdash AC unit.
This is a very nice solid Galaxy 500XL that runs out very well.
Make it yours for $23,500.00!
