Vehicle Description
You're looking at a restored 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396
Convertible Tribute that has a well-built big block V8, overdrive
transmission, upgraded suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, a
stylish bucket seat interior, and awesome slick paint. So while the
color of this drop-top is a cool blue, the performance is red
hot.
This was an awesome year for the Chevelle. The styling is best
described as crisp where each fender came to a well-defined point
front and rear. Plus, there were nicely creased lines running the
full length of the car. And you can see that so nicely today
because there has been a quality restoration. We have receipts from
2010, but you could almost swear it was just completed yesterday.
It retains the crispness that defines a '66 Chevelle, and there are
also the best SS details. This includes the blackout grille, vented
hood trim, and correct Super Sport badging. Upgrades like the large
dual exhaust tips and 18-inch Ridler wheels add to the sporty style
while also coordinating with the brilliant bumpers and trim. And
speaking of shine, the Marina Blue paint shows there was a small
fortune spent on this upgrade alone. It has the depth of a tropical
ocean wave, and the white convertible top looks like its crest. So
yes, this is one impressive car.
With the flip of a switch the crisp white roof powers down to
reveal a fresh white interior. The dash pad, upholstery, door
panels, and convertible boot look immaculate. And high traffic
areas remain in black so that this one will always be easy to hop
in and go for a drive. In fact, this car was really made to be a
cruiser. That's why you have provisions for features like a
retro-style AM/FM digital tuner and R134a air conditioning (they
will need servicing to function ideally again.) This is a great
driver's machine with form bucket seats, a center console-on
between, and a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel on a tilt column.
You have all the right gauges, including a tach correctly mounted
on the steering column.
One look under the hood, and you can instantly see there was a ton
invested here, too. Ultra-smooth inner walls give this an
award-worthy presentation, and it funnels your attention to the
motor in the middle. This is special because you need a
396cubic-inch big block to get a proper SS396 tribute. It's well
built with a Holley 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock
Performer RPM Air-Gap intake, HEI ignition, and long tube headers.
You can thank the mild cam for an added performance feel and a
terrific rumble out of the Flowmaster dual exhaust. But what makes
a muscle machine like this an all-around great classic are the
added driving features. For example, the 700R4 four-speed automatic
transmission is stout enough to handle the enhanced V8, and it's
also smooth enough for overdrive cruising. As you look underneath
the car, you're going to see a terrific full CCP suspension package
front and rear. There's also power steering, modern tires, and
four-wheel disc brakes with drilled & slotted rotors.
This combines thoughtfully crisp looks on the outside, driver-ready
comfort on the inside, and serious power under the hood. So to find
it all on a classic Chevelle convertible is truly an irresistible
package. Call today!!!
