Up for auction is this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 40th Anniversary edition with only 109 original miles. It was ordered with the rare 725hp Kennebell Supercharger option installed by Shelby American in Las Vegas, Nevada and identified as CSM Number 07XL0252. This car is a documented factory built special with all invoices and option lists provided. This is 1 of 10 cars produced with this performance package, and 1 of only 4 in this color combination. This car has the full SuperSnake drivetrain in the rare 40th Anniversary appearance package.
Exterior
The 40th Anniversary edition includes unique badging, exterior trim, and accents to signify the 40 year anniversary. Details include carbon fiber lower front splitter, carbon fiber rocker and mirror covers, as well as sequential tail lamps and special optional 20” American Racing Shelby Razor wheels. The seller notes that the car has never been registered for the street, and has never had a license plate installed. The exterior is in as-new condition, but there is a small paint blemish on the front passenger fender that can be seen up close in the photos provided.
Interior
The interior is perfect as would be expected, and has the special details identifying it as a special Shelby vehicle. Those details include a consecutively numbered dash plaque, special 40th Anniversary Shelby door sill plates, 40 th edition floor and trunk mats, Shelby center console cover, and a center dash mounted gauge cluster with Autometer carbon fiber gauges for boost, oil and fuel pressure.
Mechanical
Shelby modified a select run of GT500’s for the 40th anniversary meant to celebrate the collaborative effort between Ford Motor Company and Carrol Shelby that produced the first Mustang GT500 in 1967. While there was a “standard” 40th anniversary edition with the special wheels and trim, a host of significant upgrades were available through the Shelby American catalog to those that wanted a truly special version. The original owner selected next to every possible option, including the Kennebell polished supercharger raising the power to 725hp, upgraded blue Baer brakes, handling package that included Eibach shocks and struts, front and rear brake cooling ducts, 3.73 gears, and short throw shifter. The original invoice provided below shows numerous other small but important details meant to create a car that wasn’t just powerful, but capable of handling it. The seller notes that the only non-original parts on the vehicle are the battery, which was replaced by the estate prior to sale, and a Viper alarm system. This aftermarket system was installed without the use of drilling, and can be removed without any evidence or damage to the vehicle if desired.

This car was ordered by a committed Shelby enthusiast in 2007, and upon its completion, shipped to his home in Texas and stored immediately. It received regular maintenance including having all fluids flushed during its storage. The car stayed there until the owner passed away and was purchased in an estate sale. This Mustang is now registered in Massachusetts and stored in a garage as it was its whole life. It comes complete with original window sticker, Shelby invoices, sales brochures, two Shelby car covers, and a binder full of history. The 40th Anniversary GT500 represents one of the last models Carrol Shelby had a hand in creating, and is truly improved in every way over a base GT500. Beyond the obvious visual upgrades, the parts list illuminates the level of detail Shelby put into this car to make it dynamically faster in every metric over the standard model. This beautiful example has never had a license plate mounted and is in showroom condition.
