Vehicle Description
Do you want a big block Chevelle that's ready to hit today's roads?
A dialed-in, car-show dominator and night brawler with just the
right killer look? Love the thrill of powerful LS3 horsepower and
torque, control of a modern 4L60E automatic transmission, and the
comfort of a buck-seat A/C cabin? Well, this 1966 Chevelle Restomod
has all of that and even more, and it comes with a brilliant Mist
Blue wrapper to boot!
Finished just 1,535 miles ago, this potent resto-mod has
enhancements to almost every major system on board. Starting with
the '66 hardtop body style is a great choice, because that way the
hardware becomes as important as the look. This baby goes way more
than just skin deep, but we'll get to that soon enough. First,
about that skin - the unique Mist Blue paint gives it a
high-performance look and there's still nothing like showing up in
an attention-grabbing car with a flashy set of big wheels. The curb
appeal is really off the charts, and with deep, lustrous finish,
the straight panels, and exacting body gaps, this top
driver-quality Chevelle needs no excuses. You'll note that they
wisely kept the original hood with its faux air intakes and added
the requisite SS badges at the ends and crossed flag emblems on the
front fenders, just to keep things looking like the factory
intended. The chrome and stainless was polished up and reinstalled,
but again the overall look is fairly stock, giving this Chevelle a
bit of cover story for the performance that's hidden inside.
Black upholstery is an excellent choice with the light blue
bodywork and it's been neatly restored with a few tweaks to make it
more comfortable in today's world. The pleated stitching looks
crisp and clean on the black seat covers and OEM-spec door panels
that were installed during the build, and with a taut headliner
above and plush carpets below, the cabin is sealed up neatly with
high-end soft materials. A super-cool 2-spoke steering with wood
rim is fitted to the stock tilt column and the full array of
digital gauges inside the factory bezel are a sight to behold, with
crisp renderings and incredibly cool LED lighting illuminating the
engine's read-outs. There's also a sought-after factory console
that splits the front buckets, and it houses a chrome T-handle
shifter and the optional built-in clock that was a really cool
factory feature. By the looks of things, this is also a factory
air-conditioned car, but the system is now powered by modern
components under the hood and it's filled with cold R134a
refrigerant, so it's easy to keep in top condition. Kickin' tunes
are delivered via a retro-style AM/FM/AUX stereo system with
speakers throughout the cabin, along with JL Audio
subwoofers/amplifiers set up in the trunk, neatly stowed away
behind custom panels that look very slick.
The modern LS3-based V8 under the hood obviously wasn't
factory-issue, but it's a neat fit in the Chevelle's engine bay
nevertheless. Fuel-injected and packing big horsepower and even
more torque, the entire drivetrain was professionally installed and
wired using modern controllers, wiring, and plumbing, and it runs
superbly with the accessories managed by a serpentine belt system.
A cold-air intake system with long-tube filter system helps the
block breathe easy, and with a modern alternator, ignition system,
and options like modern power steering and power front disc brakes,
this Chevelle can handle the rigors of the modern road with great
aplomb. A 4L60E 4-speed automatic seems immune to the torque
twisting through it and a custom driveshaft spins a heavy-duty
10-bolt rear end out back. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers feed a
custom stainless dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers that exits
under the rear bumper and sounds spectacular. It handles superbly
with fresh suspension, steering, and braking components underneath,
and the builders nailed the stance, too, with a predatory crouch
that totally makes this car work atop flashy alloys with SS
center-caps that are wrapped in staggered 225/45/17 front and
255/45/18 rear performance radials.
Professionally built with loads of top-of-the-line hardware
underneath a beautiful veneer. Most 1966 Chevelles are already
pretty darn cool, but we have to admit that not many are slicker
than this resto-mod. Call today!
