If an iconic two-seater with nearly 500 horsepower is your idea of
fun, you've come to the right place. This is a 1965 Backdraft
Roadster. The Cobra body shape is familiar and beloved among
enthusiasts, and so are the great names that supplied hardware to
create one fabulous machine. A thick vinyl binder contains complete
information on the engine, electronics, and accessories. Everything
is here right up to assembly instructions and a wiring diagram. A
Dart SHP 351W block provides the foundation for a great running and
great sounding engine combination. The crank and rods are forged
Eagle components with Mahle forged pistons. A 4-inch stroke
combined with the 4.125 '' bore yields the magic 427 cubic inches.
The heads, intake, and water pump come from Edelbrock. The carb is
a 770cfm Holley. MSD handles the ignition chores. A COMP hydraulic
roller bumpstick and lifters work with upgraded valve springs to
facilitate reliable high rpm operation. Tires by Nitto, gauges by
Autometer, 5-speed transmission from Tremec, Ram clutch, Fel-pro
gaskets, Lakewood bellhousing and Moroso oil pan. You'll have peace
of mind knowing that the car was built using only the best, and you
can enjoy the magic as these fine components work together.
Everything is documented. Even the Powermaster starter has dyno
specs! (21.8 Nm @ 1088 rpm). The car has the looks too. The paint
is Chem Spec Guardsman Blue, a luscious medium blue metallic, with
Wimbledon White stripes and billboards for an iconic Cobra look.
With the Halibrand style wheels and white letter "Eagle" tires, the
look is magnificent. Those are true knock off spinners as well.
Four-wheel disc brakes, of course. And the tire fitment is perfect.
245/40ZR18 in front, and fat 295/40ZR18 Nitto 555 G2s in the rear.
They fill the fenderwells beautifully sitting still and provide
ultra performance traction at speed. Nitto G2s are specific for
front and rear. The rears have larger tread blocks to put more
rubber on the track (or road) for hi-powered cars. Inside it's
black bucket seats, with a trick dash housing complete Auto Meter
instrumentation. Strap in with Italian-made Sabelt racing
harnesses. It's fast. It's fun. It's a sports car in the truest
sense. The Iconic 427 1965 Backdraft Roadster.
