Vehicle Description
1992 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Don't purchase a 1992 Corvette and squirrel it away in a warehouse
hoping it will make you wealthy. If you want to collect something
that really might make a fortune someday, try bitcoins, Chihully
glass or hood ornaments, or a limited run of "the Artist Formerly
Known as Prince" plates. This car was made to be driven. It would
be a shame to own it and have it any other way.
Imagine, someday opening the door to a classic from 1992 which
happens to be a Chevrolet Corvette. Draped in Polo 2 Green
Metallic, this fiberglass piece of road sculpture sucks you inside.
As you take it all in it starts up and you are mesmerized by the
roar of the V8 which is an LT1 300hp engine. Nice comfy light beige
leather interior nearly puts you to sleep, when suddenly you are
awakened by a snap of your neck, and your right foot is to the
floor, and you are speeding forward, being pressed onto that supple
leather and padding. That someday could be as soon as today, if you
contact one of our car specialists, or walk into our overwhelming
mall, and hop in you dreamer you!
Exterior
Polo 2 Metallic Green covers all the fiberglass, which remains in
good shape. Just a bit of dulling on the paint but otherwise it is
looking beautiful and metallic. A clamshell hood, and body matching
fiberglass top are just the basics. Further investigation reveals
hidden headlights, body matching integrated bumpers front and rear,
and aerodynamic straight fiberglass panels with well minded gaps
throughout. Simple badging, and round-ish inset taillights with
dual horizontal chrome tipped exhaust are seen on the rear of the
car and pop up headlights in full working glory protrude upward on
the nose when headlights are turned on. 17-inch shiny turbine style
wheels wrapped in nicely preserved radials adorn each corner.
Interior
The dream continues with tan leather covered high back buckets that
have enough horizontal tuck and roll tufting to be the new Michelin
Man. While being grabbed by this leather, use the side and console
controls to electronically put you exactly where you want to grab
the wheel, shifter, and press the accelerator to start your drive
to hyperdrive speed. A smooth black center console races forward to
the dash, and houses some storage, seat controls, and the shift
lever. Moving up into the center of the dash is an
AM/FM/Cassette/CD orange readout radio, temp and airflow controls,
all push buttons. This panel makes a sharp left in an upward curve
passing the large info screen with various warning lights etc.
within and melts into the analog cascade of orange numbered and
lettered gauges, which huddle around a central vertical rectangular
orange LED readout for speed, and mileage. Nice clean tan carpet
covers the floors and storage area and shows little fading
overall.
Drivetrain
An LT1 5.7L V8 300hp small block mill featuring fuel injection is
nestled with a 6-speed manual ZF transmission strapped on the back.
The engine bay is nice and very clean and highly detailed looking
showroom, with no corrosion on any aluminum parts, or fading of
plastic.
Undercarriage
Looking underneath, just as nice as the topside, with no rust,
slight patina, and very clean, even devoid of road dirt! A solid
frame construction with an X frame reinforcement for some extra
stiffness to carve those curves is noted. Independent coil springs
for the front, and a 5-link transverse leaf spring rear suspension
is seen as are 4 wheel power disc brakes all around. Plenty of
lightweight materials have been utilized for this suspension and
underside mechanicals, all for more power from that LT1
upfront.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and hopping inside those overstuffed leather seats
just grab you. After achieving perfect driving position, it was off
to the test track where she performed just beautifully, with
rocket-like acceleration, handling on rails, and quick stopping.
Steering was tight, and it provided a smooth ride at cruising
speed. All controls were also in working order.
Dreams become reality right here at the Classic Auto Mall halls,
and rooms may contain the automotive pleasure you seek. It's all
here including this 1992 well maintained, low mileage and still
maintained with an annual oil change beauty, which presents very
nicely, awaiting to be scooped up for a fraction of the price of
the new version. Green means go, and we promise what happens in CAM
stays in CAM!
