Rugged truck utility and passenger car appointments made the
Chevrolet C10 pickup popular in its time and an ongoing favorite
for restorations or custom builds. This 1972 Chevrolet half-ton
hauler underwent a comprehensive frame-off nut-and-bolt restoration
buildout that brought classic and custom style together with
high-performance powertrain and suspension upgrades. The original
front fenders, hood and doors were stripped and straightened and
met all new fleetside bed sheet metal in the paint booth. Custom
Synergy Green and white base/clear-coat paint brought factory
two-tone up to another level. The finished bodywork was fitted with
new rubber cab mount bushings and door seals, as well as new rubber
hood, doors and tailgate bumpers. New upper, lower and tailgate
moldings from Mar-K manufacturing finished the custom paintwork
with top-of-the-line Cheyenne equipment group level trim. The pickup
packs a freshly built 350 CI V-8 small-block Chevy backed up by a
700R4 4-speed automatic from Phoenix Transmission with a lower
first gear ratio for more grunt off the hit and taller overdrive
gearing for lower engine RPM at highway speeds. Fuel gets to the
4-barrel carburetor from a Boyd's custom aluminum tank tucked in
under the bed, and the reworked suspension features a 5.5-inch
front and 6-inch rear drop for lowdown attitude.Synergy Green flows
into the cab and joins a full complement of Cheyenne appointments.
The full-width bench with houndstooth cloth and grained-vinyl
upholstery, embossed door panels and instrument cluster are
straight out of 1972. Factory air conditioning delivers four-season
comfort, and a Comfort-Grip Rally steering wheel brings some Camaro
to the cabin. Cleverly disguised as original equipment, the
dash-mount stereo includes Bluetooth and aux inputs with Alpine
speakers and 800-watt Kicker subs behind the seat. The pickup rolls
on 20-inch Billet Specialties Turbine wheels and low-profile radial
tires. Model year 1972 was the last year of the second-generation
Action Line C/K series truck body style ahead of the Rounded Line
third generation, and this custom performer waits for its next
owner to enjoy one of the last of the best.
