Vehicle Description
Asking a car guy about their dream car is always a risky
proposition. Some may gravitate towards one particular model
without hesitation, but most of us will only respond with
questions. What era? What country of origin? What price range? It's
a complex topic. One thing is for sure though - start asking about
European cars and you'll eventually end up talking about Ferraris.
When it comes to blending speed, exclusivity and pure
one-upmanship, few marques do it better. This 2002 Ferrari 360
Spider is a quintessential high performance drop-top that bridges
the gap between modern Maranello masterpieces and timeless Italian
collectibles. And if you're ready to bring home an immaculately
maintained fantasy sports car, it's a perfect candidate for your
next classic!
NON ROSSO CORSA
As far as looks go, you'd better be an extrovert, or an introvert
with a strong desire to switch teams, if you're planning on taking
this Spider home. It certainly grabs attention, firing up
conversations wherever it's driven. That appeal begins with the
car's classic Ferrari proportions, only to be elevated by exquisite
Giallo modena paint and a trick electric roof. Judging by its clean
CarFax report, the small amount of road time this drop-top has seen
was likely executed during sunny, drama-free weather. And the car's
sculpted body displays precise fit and excellent finish under
ancillary hardware that functions well and seals great.
Combining whittled aluminum and crisp trim with a buttoned down
stance and clean, modern detailing, this awesome Spider is both fun
to drive AND fun to look at! At the front of the car's
Pininfarina-penned body, Ferrari's trademark Prancing Horse leads
ageless headlights and subtle grilles. Those lights kick off a
curvilinear, Ferrari-branded waistline that meanders past tinted
mirrors, serious ductwork and subtle marker lamps. Above those
vents, a familiar Speedster Deck fronts a glass engine lid, which
leads a classy "FERRARI" script and a fourth Prancing Horse. And at
the back of the car's glowing profile, familiar round taillights
shade polished quad exhaust tips.
POTENTE TIPO F131
Naturally, all that visual testosterone is backed up with plenty of
power from the engine room! Fueling a 50-year legacy of extreme
performance, Maranello's familiar Dino V8 is certainly at its best
in this sporty Spider. Officially dubbed the Tipo F131, that
mid-mount mill takes the block, bore and fancy 5-valve cylinder
heads from the vaunted Tipo F129C and throws in a bit of extra
stroke. Forged titanium connecting rods nicely complement dry-sump
lubrication. A Bosch Motronic ECU maximizes efficiency between the
car's ignition and electronic fuel injection. Impressive 11 to 1
compression creates a stout 395 horsepower. In typical Ferrari
fashion, this convertible sounds as fierce as a racer. And, as you
might imagine, the silky powerplant looks, revs and performs almost
as good as the day it left the factory!
PIUTTOSTO L'ATLETA
Under the car, wind-cheating panels conceal a roster of
technologically forward components. A sturdy aluminum space frame
rides a fully independent suspension that's augmented with
carefully calibrated power steering. Power-assisted discs clamp a
quartet of drilled rotors. Shifts are precise thanks to a 6-speed
F1 automated manual transmission. That gearbox gets the car talking
through stainless factory exhaust. At the corners, aggressive F430
wheels spin 235/35ZR19 Pirelli P Zero Neros in front of 285/35ZR19
Michelin Pilot Sports. And, if you're a purist, the car's original
wheels are included with our sale.
SPORT E LUSSO
No matter how many times you crawl into a sports car, there's
always a sense of excitement. This Spider takes that energy even
further with classy Connolly Leather surfacing. Passengers occupy
supportive buckets that are traced in contrasting stitching. A
leather-wrapped dash props modern Clarion audio above factory air
conditioning. Plush carpet frames aluminum foot pedals, which
complement a bright and logical console. Scuff-free side panels
front factory power windows. And the driver carves curves through a
leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Ferraris are legendary automobiles, and the 360 is, to some, one of
the last proper Ferraris. Driven a mere 15,669 miles in roughly 20
years, this clean Spider walks the fine line between properly
maintained and carefully preserved. Ready to be the proud owner of
an uncompromising thrill machine that's rooted in a rich history of
high performance? Step right up and check out this awesome
drop-top!
