Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful numbers
matching 1979 Z28 Camaro in excellent condition with the highly
desirable 4-speed manual transmission and only 30,435 original
miles. This Z28 is remarkably original, runs well, and drives nice.
The car has great lines and it totally solid. This is an excellent
opportunity to own a classic 4-speed Z28 Camaro at an absolutely
unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for
more than the purchase price in years to come as these F-Body's are
appreciating fast and the market on them is red hot right now.
This Z28 Camaro is completely "Numbers Matching" with the proper
part numbers and appropriate date codes on the major components.
The last six digits of the VIN are stamped on the engine pad, which
is pictured in this ad, meaning the engine is the original unit
that was installed in the car new at the factory in Norwood, OH in
1979. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of
the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured in this ad.
This Z28 is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color
combination of Dark Blue (29) over Tan Cloth (62). This is the
correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the
trim tag pictured in this ad. The very low original mileage is
verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear
Ohio title that states the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all
of the photos, numbers, video, and information in this ad to get a
true sense of clean, nice, and original this Z28 really is.
As a side note, this Z28 Camaro is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Camaro, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Dark Blue (29) exterior looks in person as it does in the
photos. The factory turbine rally wheels are great condition with a
good finish and no curb rash. The raised white letter tires have
plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 235/60R15. There are
no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the
photos. As one can see in the many photos the paint is showing its
age and there are cosmetic blemishes around the car. This car
appears to be completely solid. Looking at the photos one car also
see the underside of the car is clean. We have included specific
photos of the spring perches, rockers, lower quarter panels, and
other areas most prone to rust on a second generation Camaro to
show how nice this car looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Camaro, both pieces of
door glass, the rear window, and even the windshield are all date
coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date
of the first week of April, 1979 (04A). Original glass is a good
indication that this car has had no major accident history and
never sustained significant damage.
Interior
The Tan (62) interior of the Z28 is in nice original condition. The
seats look just in person as they do in the photos with no split
seams, rips, or excessive wear. The seats are not overly worn in
the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out.
Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins,
not some cheap aftermarket covers or replacements The gauge faces
are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The carpet is good
condition with no rips or holes. The door panels are in great
condition overall and fit well to the doors. The door pulls are
solid and in tact. The dash looks great with no cracks or sun
fading. With a little refresh and touch up the interior could be in
excellent condition. The original package tray is in nice shape and
not warped. The truck includes the space saver spare, jack, and
jack base plate. The car has not been smoked in, there are no burn
marks and no aroma of cigarettes.
Camaro interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the
condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care this car has received throughout its life.
Mechanical
This Z28 seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car starts
right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. This Camaro is
a wonderful driver that feels great on the road and at highway
speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on
the highway up to about 65mph, shifting through all the gears,
braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note
that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs
quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to
one side or the other. The transmission shifts well, but there is
some play in the linkage in reverse. The clutch feels good. This
Camaro has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine
compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, correct, and original
as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the exterior
lights, interior lights, wipers, and the blower for the heater on
all speeds. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of
the clock. The previous owner has recently spent some money on
maintenance and service on the car, but there may be other bugs to
be worked out so we would encourage an perspective buyer to look at
the car in person if possible. The radio does not work. The car now
has no catalytic converter and a very healthy exhaust note as one
can hear in the video. Not enough can be said as to how much of a
pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-speed
manual transmission.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1979 Z28 Camaro is in great original condition. We
have the car priced to sell with its needs in mind. The car does
need paint, but with a respray and low miles this Camaro could be
worth over $30,000. The originality, the manual transmission, the
beautiful original color combination, and the very low original
mileage make this car particularly important and hard to duplicate.
Low mileage and original examples of the second generation Camaros
are hard to find and draw a huge premium in the current market,
this is especially true for the more desirable examples with the
4-speed. Numbers matching and originality is extremely important in
Camaro pricing and as one can see this car is very original and
correct. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the
future.
This Camaro always gets a ton of attention driving down the road.
It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by
its previous owners. The prices of second generation Camaros have
increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise
investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle
for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with
minimal effort.
Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such
great detail with so many photos and a video as well as giving you
all of the other numbers. As stated above, numbers matching is
extremely important in Chevrolet pricing and will become even more
important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more
rare. This information is very valuable and importan...for more
