From era-defining tri-fives to world-beating sports cars, Chevrolet
has always delivered approachable, all-American performance. With
that in mind, power has long been a hallmark of the Chevrolet
brand, and fitting a working man's car with a hotted up engine is a
trick that's almost as old as hot rodding itself. For decades,
southern California has been awash in killer street rods that
feature retrofitted V8s. Here in the American south, brazen
moonshiners outran flatfoot revenuers in farm cars that were
upfitted with large luxury car motors. Heck, even OEMs get in on
the action, often elevating a subsidiary's homegrown powerplant
into a corporate powerhouse. So, when we tell you this sweet Camaro
benefits from modern GM power, it shouldn't be a big shock. And
when we tell you "modern GM power" actually means 6.2 liters of
supercharged LT4, we're sure we'll have your full attention!
TIME TO TURN HEADS
The beneficiary of a nine-year, no-expense-spared restoration, this
awesome F1 resto-mod is fully sorted and ready to rock! Timeless
aesthetics kick off with traditional Hugger Orange two-stage that's
supplemented by modern Hockey Stripes. At the front of that
pigment, a painted bumper shades factory marker lamps and a
seamless valance that dressed with a sculpted spoiler. A Satin
Black Rally Sport grille seats spry Detroit Speed headlights
beneath a shaved header and a short Cowl Induction Hood. Reliable
Detroit Speed wipers clear stainless-trimmed glass under painted
drip rails. A crisp profile plants a traditional mirror between
factory door handles. A tight spoiler reflects a seamless deck
filler above a Satin Black tail panel that's finished with billet
lights. And a second painted bumper shades a seamless roll pan.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE LT4
Not surprisingly, this Camaro's engine makes an art of combining
exclusive yet universal appeal with reliable yet world-beating
performance. Under the all-steel hood you'll find GM's latest and
greatest LT4: a supercharged, all-aluminum marvel that twists stout
10 to 1 compression into 650 horsepower and 650 lb./ft. of
tire-shredding torque! Sourced directly from Chevrolet Performance,
the brutal mill utilizes a 1.7 liter Eaton TVS blower, forged
powder metal rods and forged aluminum pistons to flat out whip
pretty much anything with four wheels. A perfect amount of oxygen
flows from a remote filter element through a proven GM throttle
body. That air meets fuel under Rotocast aluminum cylinder heads,
which are built with lightweight titanium valves. When those heads
open, spent gases float through proven GM manifolds, which roar
through custom, large-diameter exhaust. A quality Drive Junky
serpentine system keeps everything smooth. There's a beefy DeWitts
radiator that's paired with polished reservoirs, a C&R Racing
heat exchanger and electric SPAL puller fans. And choice detailing
includes billet brace bars, billet hood supports, a color-keyed
closeout panel, and Wilwood brake and clutch cylinders.
PERFORMANCE WITH EASE
Behind the potent engine, a tough hydraulic clutch jerks a tough
Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed, which spins an aluminum Coleman Racing
driveshaft that's hooked to a sturdy 9-inch axle. That body-matched
pumpkin rolls on a polished 4-link suspension that's finished with
adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. That clip pushes a tubular Total Cost
Involved front-half which, 120 pounds lighter than factory fodder,
wraps a polished sway bar around polished control arms and more
adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. That chassis, solidified by tubular TCI
subframe connectors, leads a stainless Rick's tank that's siphoned
by a quick Aeromotive pump. Turns come courtesy of athletic power
rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by a quartet of
drilled and slotted rotors, which get clamped by 4 and 6-piston
Wilwoods. Custom stainless exhaust funnels spent gases through an
X-shaped crossover and rowdy turbo mufflers. And at the corners,
attractive Intro wheels carry 255/35ZR19 front and 285/35ZR19 rear
BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.
RIDE IN STYLE
Open the doors and you'll find a purposeful custom interior that's
bathed in trick LED lighting. The driver and one lucky passenger
enjoy the comfort of modern buckets. An exclusive fiberglass dash
hangs serious digital telemetry above a touchscreen for Bluetooth
JVC audio and hardware for Vintage Air climate control. Premium
carpet floats color-keyed mats around an exclusive fiberglass
console that's finished with a billet shifter and toggles for the
car's power windows. Exclusive fiberglass side panels frame a
custom headliner that's complete with alluring LEDs. The driver
spins a monochromatic Billet Specialties D wheel around pushbutton
ignition and a modern, tilting column. Audio is top notch, with a
JBL digital processor feeding dual Kicker amps and a series of
Kicker speakers. And cool details include custom sills, metal foot
pedals, power door locks, an integrated backup camera and Remote
Keyless Entry.
Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic
that's been tastefully customized is something few are lucky enough
to experience. Owning a tastefully customized, lights-out classic
that's propelled by one of the hottest powerplants ever created is
the stuff most gearheads dream about. Don't miss your chance to
enjoy this incredible first-generation Camaro!
