Just finished a complete body off frame restoration. #s match
throughout- motor, trans, rear, starter, carb, distributor and
color. Very desirable 2 top roadster with a/c and a 4-speed.
EXTERIOR: The body is in very good shape, no cracks or damage that
I found. Repainted it's original Steel Cities gray, rare color. The
paint is glossy. Shiny and straight original chrome. New windshield
and the stainless trim around it was polished. It still has the
weather shields behind the grills that protect the headlights and
it has the front spoiler. 15x8 rally wheels have good original trim
and new tires. It has a correct antenna and vintage 1972 license
plate. The black convertible top is in very good condition. The
hardtop is painted to match the car and is also in very good
original condition.
INTERIOR: New cushions and upholstery, the seats are comfy. New
door panels. The carpet has been replaced front to back. The dash
pad is very nice, factory gauges are clean and they all work. The
clock was rebuilt. It has original Am-Fm radio. The center console
bezel is all new, the heater control panel is new. It has the
correct shifter with reverse lock out and chrome ball. New carpet
front to back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The casting codes and dates are correct. The
vin #s on the pad match the car. Correct numbered carb and
distributor. The 350 motor was completely rebuilt- polished crank,
new pistons, reconditioned rods, LT-1 cam etc. New master cylinder.
Rebuilt radiator, new clutch fan, new heater core and hoses. The
factory air conditioning system was completely rebuilt and blows
cold. The vacuum system was gone through for the wiper door and
headlight doors. It is so tight there is enough vacuum to open the
lights even after the engine is not running. There are so many
miscellaneous parts that look new like the steering coupler, hood
latch mechanisms and hinges, fan shroud, belts, pulleys etc. The
dual snorkel air cleaner has a new chrome lid. The ignition
shielding is new including around the spark plugs. It has a nice
set of chrome Chevrolet valve covers.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for a thorough restoration.
The chassis was completely disassembled. The frame was sandblasted
and powder coated. We have a picture of the VIN # on the frame, it
matches the car. It has independent suspension front and back, it
was completely rebuilt with all new bushings, ball joints,
u-joints, Delco shocks etc. The brakes system has been completely
restored- new rotors, calipers, all the rubber and steel lines,
e-brake assembly etc. It has disc at all four wheels. Looking up at
the motor it's still spotless, correct # starter. The vin #
matching M20 Muncie transmission was opened up, inspected and given
a new gasket and rear pinion seal. The clutch and bearings were
replaced, flywheel resurfaced, linkage refurbished. Original rear
end with 3.36 posi gears was opened, inspected and given fresh
fluid. New factory correct off road 2 1/5 inch exhaust system which
has one less baffle, sounds a little better. It has a correct
square tips coming through the valence. The fiberglass floors are
in excellent condition. It has complete spare tire carrier. Every
thing under this car was rebuilt or replaced and detailed real
nice.
This is a well sorted and dialed in Corvette ready to be enjoyed. A
4-speed with a/c in a convertible is a very rare and desirable car.
While you are having fun shifting those gears you can feel even
better knowing it's an investment grade, #s matching car!
