For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Nova in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1967 Chevrolet Nova II SS

"Up with good looks. Down with high prices. The stylish economy car" said the 1967 Nova sales brochure. The high-powered Turbo Fire 327ci V8 that had been introduced the previous as the top-of-the-line engine option was discontinued for 1967. The Nova SS got a new black accented grille. Optional front disc brakes were made available for the first time.

With the introduction of the Turbo-Fire engine in 1966, the Nova SS had snuck its way into a muscle car label, despite its small stature. Really, it was somewhere in between the pony car and muscle car class. Though its power had been diminished in 1967, it was still a quick car that would become quicker as the years wore on. For consignment a 1967 with some of that zapped power put back in with some boring and stroking, and an overall great looker, and a 2-owner car...Read onward!

Exterior
Painted in its original code RR Bolero Red, straight steel panels, great trim, and chrome, and shiny chrome Rocket wheels are seen on this very original looking simple but elegant grocery getter. A shiny egg crate grille with single headlights flanking either side is surrounded by very nice trim work, below is the front bumper in chrome with very few faults. The stock flat hood perfectly makes its way back to new stainless windshield wiper arms and clean glass surrounded by wonderfully polished trim. Perfectly aligned slab sided steel panels make up the sides and are spattered with cleanly plated handles, badging and a mirror. Bringing up the rear is a straight as an arrow truck lid and rear trimmed taillights with a bumper below all polished to factory specs.

Interior
Clean fresh upholstered seats, new carpet, and a thick rimmed 3 spoke steering wheel all dressed in black, and a white stripe added to each seat running right up the middle...oh and add a vertical stripe on the doors to be even more matchey and cool! Autometer Pro Comp gauges take the place of the originals in the all black padded dash while a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player replaces the original unit. A chrome Hurst shifter rises from the carpet and is topped by the traditional white ball. A tight black headliner hangs above and in the center is a new dome light.

Drivetrain
327 cubes in the form of a healthy V8 are happily mounted in a pristine engine compartment home. This mill is painted in traditional Chevrolet orange and is topped with a Holley intake manifold and 650cfm Holley 4bbl carburetor. Shiny valve coverings and air cleaner top off this clean mill. A rebuilt 4-speed Muncie with new shift linkage is strapped to the rear of the mill and flows power back to a 10-bolt Positraction rear axle. Total visual eye candy under the hood, just like the day after it left the showroom floor.

Undercarriage
Beautifully done and showing only very minor road dirt, this underside is rust free. The black floors sit proudly above the unibody along with the body hangers and rockers. A change from the norm in the suspension department as the front has been converted to Classic Performance independent coil overs while the rear suspension is now TCI a 4 link with coil overs and a panhard bar. Wilwood disc brakes are on the front and drums are on the rear. Dougs Headers take spent fossils back thru a black exhaust system with Turbo mufflers. A new fuel tank is noted along with all this show quality cleanliness and the suspension adjustment tool is included.

Drivability
A quick fire up and warmup and off to the test track. I felt like a superstar behind this wheel in this excellent interior. On track I experienced smooth acceleration, bias free panic stopping, and nice tight cornering. All fun actions were working at this time.

Well restored, well upgraded in the engine department and suspension departments. A nicely done interior, we have a runner, and a gunner. If you are looking for a smaller muscle car classic with some day 2 modifications and some modern upgrades, then this real deal Chevy II Nova SS is just what the doctor ordered!
