1972 Bultaco 125 Pursang

Bultaco's main line of motocrossers was the Pursang. The Bultaco Pursang first hit the market in 1965. The leading model in the United States was the 250cc, but Pursangs were built in various engine sizes including 125cc, 360cc and 370cc. Pursangs were always known for their power and excellent handling.

For consignment a 1972 Bultaco Pursang 125cc motocrosser. This bike was popularized by American rider Jim Pomeroy who was the first American rider to win an FIM international motocross race aboard a Spanish bike. He was also the youngest and made the Bultaco a popular choice of vintage motocross riders.

Our example, the 1972 125cc Pursang has a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 244.29cc and a bore and stroke of 72x60mm. A 32mm Amal carburetor is used, and the bike has a five-speed gearbox. The front forks have 6 1/2 inches of travel. The back suspension has 5-way adjustable shocks with hydraulic dampening and provided 3 15/16 inches of travel. The 1972 Pursang has 9 5/8 inches of ground clearance and has a dry weight of 220.4 pounds.

This consignment is bathed in black which is a fairly heavy coat, showing some orange peeling and dents and dings. A nice leather seat will accommodate a duo but keep in mind it has the soul of a dirt bike.

As to the workings, the bike will kick over, but will not start. Probably due to a check of the fuel tank and it will need a thorough cleaning and draining.

A vintage motocrosser, ready to be loved with some TLC to have a great example of a classic dirt bike. Go ahead, git a little mud on your tires, and your smile!
