Vehicle Description
This 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 has all of the right original pieces
combined with upgrades and investments in just the right places. So
it's hard not to want this loaded and rare A/C coupe that also
shines brighter when you take it out for a drive.
The Mercury Cougar was the Mustang's rarer and more luxurious
cousin, and it carries that distinction nicely. Code-Q Glacier Blue
is this car's original color, and it has been given a more recent
professional respray to really pop in the sunshine. Adding to this
overall radiant package are classic pieces like the chrome bumpers,
as well as the high polish shine of the upgraded 17-inch US Mags
alloys. As you look over the whole car, you can see it has been a
well-respected classic. And that makes it easier to see the unique
and crisp lines that were exclusive to the Cougar. Plus, there are
terrific details, everywhere from the full-length pinstriping to
the hidden headlights that integrate right into the stylish
grille.
The sea of blue continues inside. Just like the outside, this
factory-correct setup loves to show off its premium side. That
means leather seats, plush carpeting, a smooth dash, desirable
center console, plenty of wood-like trim, and full gauges w/tach.
Even details like the courtesy lights are still illuminating when
you open the door. There have also been more recent investments to
keep this upper-level XR7 feeling correctly premium. The
weather-stripping has the pliable feel of quality and the air
conditioning system was rebuilt within the last few months to make
sure this one stays blowing cold. We have the Marti Report showing
how this was born with some very rare options, including Ford's
Speed Control cruise control. Even the correct Mercury AM radio is
still there for display. And every time you get out, you'll love
showing off the unique tilt-away steering wheel. It's just another
one of the little things that were recently serviced to make sure
this Mercury really gives off a vintage and premium feeling.
The clean and classic presentation continues in the engine bay.
This is a C-code coupe, and so it's great to have a 289 cubic-inch
V8 under the hood. This one truly looks the part of a time capsule
with the bold blue block, matching valve covers, and large air
topper. This one also has nice recent maintenance receipts that
document a new fuel tank, suspension components, and a rebuild of
the three-speed automatic transmission all within the last year. So
it makes for a strong-running package that feels solid on the road.
That's why you'll also appreciate great anytime driving features
like the power steering, power brakes, and modern tires afforded by
the wheel upgrade.
This is the distinct classic Cougar that's been invested in nicely
to still be easily enjoyed in modern times. Don't miss out, call
