Garage Kept Motors.) A good truck can be the start of a long
friendship. €" 1979 GMC Pickup Truck magazine ad headline Hagerty
characterized the attractive design of the 1979 GM pickups this
way: Whether Chevrolet or GMC, the General's third-generation,
'square-body' trucks were a dramatic departure from the company's
previous efforts. The third-gen models featured squared-off front
and rear fascia, subtle body contours honed by wind-tunnel testing,
a more accommodating and ergonomic interior, and even an available
crew-cab body, a style decades ahead of its time. Offered here is a
very well-maintained, one-family-owned-since-new, GMC CS15 Sierra
Classic pickup in golden brown and cream-white over golden-brown.
Since being delivered new in California, the truck has traveled
53,201 miles, or fewer than 1,500 miles per-year on average. Its
excellent overall condition shows how owner pride, attention to
regular servicing, and low mileage can result in an almost timeless
vehicle. The exterior golden brown paint is complemented with
cream-white on the roof and body-sides, and on the tailgate; it
emphasizes the truck's horizontal styling lines. The tailgate also
features brushed-metal trim. Paint shows good gloss overall with
some light patina, especially on the hood. A Glasslite® bed topper
(with sliding side windows and liftgate) for the cargo bed is
painted to match the cream-white. There is no sign of body damage;
the truck's front grille and tailgate show no damage. Chrome front
bumper and rear step-bumper are in excellent condition.
West-Coast-style mirrors are mounted. All factory emblems are in
place and properly affixed. Cabin and topper glass as well as
lighting lenses are clear and uncracked. The truck's cargo bed is
in excellent condition while the underside of the fiberglass topper
shows some discoloration. Turbine-style, 15-spoke alloy wheels are
mounted with raised-white-letter Good Year Wrangler® Radial tires
with the blackwalls facing out. Inside, golden-brown door and
dashboard trim complement textured-fabric upholstery on the bench
seat in the same hue. Golden-brown carpeting covers the cabin
floors. Behind the black GMC-branded steering wheel and
column-mounted shifter for the automatic transmission, the gauge
cluster features a brushed-metal surround, matched by a trim piece
on the front of the dash facing the passenger. Cracks are noted on
the top of the dashboard. Heating and air-conditioning controls are
located to the right of the instruments, with an aftermarket
Concord® AM/FM/cassette audio unit mounted below in the
factory-radio location. Under the hood, the 454 cubic-inch GMC V8
has been maintained in a clean and well-ordered engine bay. All
components-including air conditioning-are correctly mounted and no
significant modifications are evident. In the same way, viewed from
below, the truck's chassis is complete and undamaged. Dual gas
tanks were mounted at the factory, as was the towing package, power
steering and power brakes. All build tags and VIN markings are
present and unaltered. The truck has been recently serviced
including replacement of the water pump, radiator hose, blower
motor, and pinion shaft seal. While the more than 120
