Vehicle Description
1995 Jaguar XJS Convertible
The Jaguar car is world famous for its stylish designs, thrilling
performance, luxurious and comfortable interiors, outstanding
handling and ride, quality engineering, and state-of-the-art
technology. No other automobile manufacturer has been as remarkably
successful at creating both the world's finest luxury sedans, as
well as some of the world's most beloved sports cars. The founder
of Jaguar Cars Ltd. was Sir William Lyons. His goal was to create
world class sports sedans with "grace, space, and pace." Lyons once
said, "The car is the closest thing we will ever create to
something that is alive."
For consignment something to put some excitement into your
derriere, a Jaguar XJS. This 4-passenger sports car with its inline
6-cylinder power plant can be a slight bit of a handful when it
comes to pushing you down the superhighway, all in luxurious
comfort. A tasteful mixture of Topaz tones, and English burl, along
with some innovative use of technology, and we are going for a ride
in Jaguar British style. Its final year and taking a bow, a 2-owner
car in the same family and then owned and enjoyed by our consignor,
and mere 30,565, all original paint, mint condition interior, and
lots of power conveniences.
Exterior
This low-slung British skate is bathed in Topaz Metallic, and there
is nary a fault on her. Gaps are excellent throughout all steel
rust free panels. Chrome trimmings for headlight bezels, windshield
trim and taillight surrounds are also all excellent. A brown canvas
convertible power up and down top has a glass rear window, and no
marks or tears to be seen. A 2 plus 2 seater car with plenty of
room upfront for the engine, passengers in the middle and trunk
space abounds! Throw in dual chrome tipped exhausts and 16-inch
Jaguar alloy wheels, and we have the makings of luxury sport. When
the top is down, and only used once, (during our photo shoot), the
boot seamlessly covers the downed top, and compliments the Topaz
exterior. A shout out to the boot which holds a factory tool kit
and a 6-disc CD changer.
Interior
Simply put, mint although not in color, condition...Ivory leather
abounds with true actual walnut burl to create a luxurious
environment fit for a discriminating driver. Nice comfy, puffy
padded seats show no marks from use! A beauty of a central console
with some of that walnut burl inset around the shifter which also
shows cruise controls, window and roof toggles and dual ash
receptacles. As the center console rises to the dash, a factory
AM/FM/Cassette/6 Disc radio is mounted neatly within, along with
climate controls, running lights, defogger and exterior lighting.
The shiny inset walnut for the gauge cluster is just pristine and
shows very clean black faced gauges with white numbers and letters
and white pointers. A wood and molded vinyl steering wheel is
fronting the dash. Door panels show in Ivory vinyl with more walnut
burl trimmings and power seat adjustments, storage pulls and a
chromed bezels speaker within a field of taupe color carpet. The
floors are covered with medium beige colored Wilton carpeting and
sport lighter protective floor mats to keep staining and dirt to a
minimum.
Drivetrain
A pop of the long bonnet and it reveals a very clean and well-kept
engine bay. Within its confines is a shiny, no corrosion 4.0 liter
inline 6-cylinder engine. It is fed by electronic fuel injection
and has a 4-speed automatic, (ZF4HP24E), original overdrive
transmission with a rear axle of 3.54 gearing. All capital
condition under here mates!
Undercarriage
Slight patina, but no road dirt, or surface rust seen on all the
essentials. Independent, coil springs for front and rear, and power
disc brakes on all 4 corners. An original exhaust system is on and
shows almost no surface rust.
Drive-Ability
With my hankering for anything British, I hopped behind the wheel,
fired this car up and drove off to the test track. Great
acceleration, wonderful handling, straight braking when pressed
hard, and a smooth cruiser. A/C blew ice cold, and all power
accessories were functional. I did notice that the emergency brake
light stays on even with the brake released and a bulb warning
light is on, but all exterior bulbs are functioning properly.
An exciting, luxurious, tasteful, sports car that can sate your
every desire. Beautiful Topaz Metallic paint with a perfectly
matched Ivory interior and the top goes up and down. Sir Lyons has
it all perfected in the XJS.
