For 1965, the Volkswagen Transporter received only minor changes. The '1500' engine which had been an option was now standard. It had a 91.1 cubic-inch displacement size and offered 50 horsepower. There was a four-speed manual gearbox, hydraulic drum brakes, and a worm-and-sector steering system.
1965 was a good year for Transporter buyers as U.S. models after the much-needed power boost of the famed 'Fifteen', VW's 1493cc air-cooled flat-four engine. Top speed could achieve at around 75 mph and they had a cargo capacity of 2,204 pounds.
The basic Kombi or Bus is the 11-window (a.k.a. three-window bus because of three side windows) had a split pop out windshield, two front cabin door windows, six rear side windows, and one rear window. This is a stunning example represented here It was recently restored and looks stunning.
