For Sale: 1937 Ford Monoposto Kit Car in Mesa, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This 1937 Ford Monoposto Indy Style Recreation Racecar takes the right look of the era and delivers an authentic race car experience. So if you ever wanted to take the track next to Wilbur Shaw or Louis Meyer, then this is exactly what you've been waiting for.

The aluminum body was hand-built in Argentina. It has a silhouette similar to other cars that took to the track in the 1930s, but the sleekness of the body and the gloss of the paint remind you the build was complete in 2000. You'll marvel at the attention to quality, like how you have the smooth aerodynamic rear with the built-in headrest. And also how the rear suspension is built to go through this bodywork. It has all the best details of a true 1930s racer. This means leather straps for the hood, a skinny/small windshield, a heat-wrapped exhaust next to the driver, and genuine wire wheels with knock-off hubs.

This car is out to give you the sensation of what it's like to drive a true classic racer, and so the interior is elegantly simple. You have a single bucket seat (monoposto) finished in leather. This coordinates with the cockpit surround, shift boot, and built-in headrest. The dash is a pure racecar with a machine-tuner panel housing only your essential gauges - including a large speedometer like a Miller-Ford. And there's a large classic steering wheel with a level of grip that helps keep you planted. It all has an elegant simplicity where the speed you're willing to achieve is directly related to the amount of guts you have.

The engine bay has the look of a true racer, right down to the machine-turned firewall. At the center is Ford's famous flathead V8, and this 221 cubic-inch unit has Edelbrock cylinder heads and an aluminum intake. But if you look a little closer, you'll also see some modern updates. The dual carburetors were recently rebuilt; it has a 12-volt electrical system; and there's an electric fan on the radiator. So it's a strong runner built for a bit more modern enjoyment. The center position of the four-speed shifter may take some getting used to, but the standard pedal setup means your instincts can be trusted behind the wheel. Tall/skinny tires, vented manual brakes, and a true open-air sensation really turn back the clock so your senses know what it was like to be at the helm of a pre-war Indy racer.

This special car takes the right look and feel of a 1930s racecar and it makes sure to package it so that it's still easy to drive and easy to maintain. That seems like a terrific way to turn your garage into the winner's circle. Call today!!!
