For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Corvette in Solon, Ohio

Vehicle Description

It’s easy to see why nearly 400,000 Car and Driver readers voted the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 the Best All-Around Car of that year. The 1967 model of the Chevrolet Corvette (C2) was the last of the second generation, and it was the best of the line with five years of refinements behind it. Sadly, it was also the last year for the popular Stingray

The Stingray two-seater sports car was considered to have the most sophisticated drive train, engine, suspension and brakes of its time, offering a smooth, powerful ride on wider, 6-inch Rally wheel rims and wide, low-profile tires.

According to a National Corvette Restorers Society  (NCRS)shipping data report on file, this striking Corvette was  built on March 6, 1967 and delivered to Earl Hayes Chevrolet of Dallas, Texas.  Its trim tag, which it retains along with the original serial number plate, notes it was originally finished in the exciting color of Silver Pearl.

This vehicle was purchased in 1973 by its current owner.  After the original 390-horsepower 427 V8 4-speed manual transmission was stolen in 1976, the owner began the tradition of tasteful modifications, having it refinished in Mosport Green and installing a 1971 454 LS5 V8.

In 2012, the owner wanted a resto-mod and entrusted it to Steve Enochs’ highly respected Muscle Rod Shop in San Antonio, Texas. The car was outfitted with a GM ZZ454/440 Big Block crate engine with high-flow oval-port aluminum cylinder heads, Holley carburetor with electric choke, Hi-Flow Edelbrock water pump, Hi-flow thermostat and a high-torque mini starter (good for 469 hp at 5,500 rpm and 519 ft/lb of torque).

That rip-roaring power is directed through an American Powertrain Tremic TKO600 5-speed transmission with a Science Friction Stage1 Super Street clutch and 3.70 Positraction rear end (stamped FA 31 67)while the engine exhales through side exhaust, an original feature preserved by the owner.  Four KYB shock absorbers were mounted as well. Upgraded power steering was fitted, and the power brakes were rebuilt.

The body was professionally restored to its correct original Silver Pearl with the black stinger hood.  The original Rallye wheels were stripped and properly repainted in the correct Argent Silver. For comfort, the interior was outfitted with Vintage Air (featuring factory-appearing chrome vents) and a tinted windshield.

Today this amazing Corvette shows only minor wear to the pedals and signs of minimal driving use to the undercarriage.  The paint and interior are still in superb condition, and the engine compartment is clean, tidy and very attractive. It is accompanied by the aforementioned considerable parts and service records maintained by the former owners, including all photos and invoices for the Muscle Rod Shop build, showing the impressive level of care involved throughout.  Detailed photos of the painting, including the car in primer, are available upon request.

Also available is the NCRS report and data plate pictures, confirming the correct production date, original dealer and the interior and VIN codes.  The original data plates show the VIN number and the following numbers: body, paint, and trim (interior) style.

This historical timepiece is one of the most sought-after by Corvette enthusiasts, and it still holds a high appreciation value today. For sparkling presentation and sheer driving excitement, with the best of vintage feel and modern performance, there is no better choice than this amazing 1967 Corvette Roadster.
