1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner
Car History
The 1962 Galaxie epitomized Ford's midyear 1962 marketing shift to
change the image and appeal to a younger generation of buyers with
a long and sleek look.
We have a restored 1962 Galaxie Sports Roadster Sunliner here at
Adventure Classics that is finished in the factory colors it was
born wit per the Trim Tag, the highly sought after Rangoon Red with
a red interior and powered by a 390 cubic inch V-8 engine.
Engine & Drivetrain
Ford launched its Total Performance program in 1961 with this
Galaxie 390 cubic inch V8 engine under the hood and continued it in
1962. Ours looks as new as it was the day it was built sitting in
the immaculate painted and detailed engine compartment with all the
right plumbing, hoses, the red FOMOCO windshield washer water bag
sitting on the passenger inner fender, and decals.
The engine has so many great features like the red painted valve
covers and correct red air cleaner, factory cast iron exhaust and
dual exhaust system, power steering and power brakes, new battery,
chrome radiator top, and backed by an automatic transmission.
Era-type updates enhance its image as a boulevard cruiser, for
example, stainless-steel fender skirts, chrome dual tailpipes and
chrome wire wheels with spinner hubcaps and radial whitewall
tires.
Interior
Our Ford has had a full restoration of the interior as well and it
is done in striking red and white throughout. It has the spacious
red/white front seats, matching rear seat, door panels, factory
three-spoke steering wheel, and dash-mounted factory gauges.
The dash is painted in red and has great stainless, column mounted
shifter, and the factory radio. The carpets and floor mats are red
as well. Even the trunk area is super neat and shows well.
Exterior
The Sunliner's unmistakable Ford styling remains intact and
beautifully finished in the original born with color of Rangoon Red
with great chrome and bright metal adornments like the 390 engine
badges that distinguish our Galaxie as having that engine.
The chrome bumpers with the chrome grill make for a great
appearance with the car's stance and all body panels line up with
the doors being straight.
It has a Power top and boot cover, dual mirrors, Stainless steel
fender skirts, a Continental Kit, and Bumper guards to boot.
Conclusion
This 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner that we have for sale here at
Adventure Classics has been built right, carries a great Ford
muscle car heritage, and is a fantastic driver that won't
disappoint you.
