Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Clean NC classic Volvo! Original, unmodified,
unmolested classic Volvo 240 wagon! This beautiful feat of Swedish
craftsmanship is stunning! Former Volvo of Charlotte display
car!
BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Volvo is very nice, especially
considering the age and mileage. With 433,000 on the odometer, the
body alone shows how well-maintained this car is. No vehicle stays
this nice for that long under heavy abuse! There are some very
minor signs of age and use here and there, but this Volvo doesn't
look like it has even half the actual mileage!
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This 240 appears to have been repainted
at some point, and the repaint really shines! There are some very
minor defects to be found, such as a small run on the hood, but you
have to be really looking to see them. The paint has a nice glossy
look, and is such a perfect color for a Volvo from this era.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior condition is perhaps the
most pleasantly surprising aspect of this Volvo. If you've ever
owned a high mileage anything from this era, you know how these
interiors begin to look over time. The interior on this car isn't
quite showroom-new, but overall it is in great condition and needs
nothing to be enjoyed as-is. It even has the original radio! The
seats, carpet, door panels, and headliner are in surprisingly good
condition, and we wouldn't be surprised if this car saw a minor
restoration in the past. The damaged plastic door pockets on the
front doors are the only glaring defects on the interior, but door
pocket covers are included in the sale.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Don't let the mileage fool you; the "Red
Block" 4-cylinder in this Volvo runs like new. Sitting on the
original wheels & wheel covers, this Volvo retains its classic
early-1990s look. If you know these cars, you know that the 240s
are some of the safest, reliable, and functional vehicles of the
era. This 32-year-old station wagon handles like it isn't a day
over 1! It even has service records going back to 1999 when it was
taken in as a display car at the Volvo dealer.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a good, honest,
well-maintained southern vehicle that was sold new in Charlotte and
has been in the Charlotte, NC area since it was new. It was even on
display at Volvo of Charlotte for many years! Plus, the overall
originality that this car has is getting harder to find.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Some wear high-mileage as a
badge of pride, while others may see it only as an indication of
imminent failure. If you're the second type, this is not the car
for you.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The tires have great tread, but are older
and it would be wise to replace them if you intend to drive this
car regularly.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Someone who grew up in the
1990s/early 2000s would love to have this in their driveway. If you
remember growing up driving these or riding with parents that owned
them, this is sure to be a nostalgic purchase!
