Vehicle Description
STK 2956 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger
The Dodge Division of Chrysler Motors produced hundreds of
thousands of Darts, but the 340 Dart Swinger was the best by far.
This lightweight 'compact' Dodge was an affordable, potent package
when fitted with a high-revving 340ci motor. Weight balance was
good, traction was excellent and when geared correctly these little
Darts would give many a big-block a run. The 'LA" series 340ci
motor evolved from earlier 273/318ci configurations, but was much
stronger internally. The '69 340 Dart was truly one of the most
underrated muscle cars of the era. This stunning, fully restored
Dart Swinger 340 has been the recipient of a full restoration
(2014) with minor mechanical updates. The exterior was carefully
prepped and professionally refinished in 2-stage Brite Red
(exclusive color for the 340 Dart Swinger) with correct 'Dart
Swinger' stripes and the 340 Dart raised hood. It sits perfectly on
5-spoke chrome wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The
interior is comfortable, but all business. Front seats have been
recovered and new carpeting was installed. The dash holds a full
set of factory analog gauges and AM radio. No console - just a
beautiful factory Hurst Competition+ 4-speed shifter. This Dodge
Swinger was delivered with the 'P code' option - 340ci High
Performance engine. The 340 'LA' motor was born to run. It had
larger mains, forged crank/pistons, HD rods, new heads w/2.02/1.60
valves and an aggressive cam. These motors were built to rev to
6,000. Our owner believes that the engine in the Dart is the
factory 340 that has been completely rebuilt. It is currently
fitted with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and Holley carburetor.
Exhaust is routed to a free flowing system by tube headers and it
is backed by Chrysler's fully synchronized A-833 4-speed manual
transmission. These transmissions were virtually indestructible,
even when fronted with a Hemi. When optioned with a 340 motor,
Swingers were also fitted with a Rallye suspension package and
limited-slip differential. Gearing appears to be somewhat taller
than stock 3.55:1. Steering in our Dart is manual and an upgraded
4-wheel power disc brake setup handles stopping requirements. If
you are into old-school MOPAR muscle, come look at this Dart
Swinger 340. It is an investment that will not disappoint on the
street. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS"
