Here is a beautifully restored 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible that
has a smooth running and driving Ford flathead V8. The '40 Ford
Deluxe was designed by Eugene Gregorie and Mr. Gregorie's design is
surely iconic. Serving as a bridge between Ford's Standard base
model and its top of the line Lincolns, the Deluxe featured
elevated trim which gave it a more elevated look and feel. The
conservative Art Deco influenced design on the Deluxe was more
streamlined than previous year Fords and the unique grille design
made it one of the most beautiful American cars of all time. This
particular Ford was owned by the same owner from '76 through 2019
and the ground up restoration was completed under his ownership.
Based on the overall quality and condition of this Deluxe
Convertible, it is clear that he meticulously cared for this car.
Under the hood on this classic Ford is Ford's famous 24-stud 221
Cubic Inch Flathead V8 engine, otherwise known as the Ford Flatty,
that along with the Single 2 Barrel Downdraft Carburetor under an
oil bath air cleaner pushed out a whopping 85 horsepower in its
day. The Flatty is mated up to a 3 Speed Manual Transmission that
features a column mounted shifter, marking the first time in Ford's
history that Fords had a "3 on the tree" shifter as opposed to the
floor mounted shifters in previous year models. The chrome and
brightwork on this '40 Deluxe is stellar. The front bumper features
bumper guards and optional Amber fog lamps. The Mandarin Maroon
exterior paint is in excellent shape and was repainted during the
fantastic restoration undertaken by the car's previous long-term
owner. This '40 Ford sits on 4 bias ply wide whitewall tires with
full wheel covers, and with the rear wheels sitting behind matching
fender skirts. The beige power convertible top with glass rear
window goes up and down with ease and, when down, rests under a
beautiful matching boot. The interior on this 1940 Deluxe
Convertible is stellar. The Bench Seats were reupholstered in a
beautiful Beige vinyl giving the car a fantastic period-correct
look. The steering wheel, door panels, and dash all look superb and
are in a stock configuration. The instrument cluster appears to be
stock as well and is equipped with an 100 MPH speedometer, oil
pressure gauge, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and battery level
gauge. If you're looking to add one of the most beautiful and
iconic American classics to your collection, this well-done 1940
Ford Deluxe Convertible is an excellent choice. Give us a call
