For Sale: 1963 Ford 300 in Lithia Springs, Georgia
This 1963 Ford 300 has a touch of that ideal sleeper style. It's a
glossy black car with bright chrome bumpers. But then you add in a
big block V8 with a dual-quad setup, four-on-the-floor, and a
rumbling dual exhaust, and you really get the full picture on this
classic.
The '63 full-size cars are already a desirable classic. They have a
wide/authoritative design that ends with taillights inspired by jet
fighters. Plus, lovers of Ford history will find it interesting
that 1963 was the only year there was ever a base model simply
called the "300". This car represents its era well with bright
chrome bumpers and complete badging. The paint gives off the right
sleeper/basic black vibe. It's a glossy finish that loves to show
off the lines of the body without ever coming across as a trailer
queen. It's ideal because Ford fans also know the 300 model could
be one of the most desirable blacktop burners around. These base
models started out as the lighter ones of the 300/Custom/Galaxie
series, and the pillared body made them stronger, too. They could
also be optioned for big-block muscle, and so they made for an
ideal base for a power machine. This one subtly announces it's an
old-school street-eater with the large dual exhaust tips and the
extra-wide rear tires subtly showing against classic dog dish hub
caps.
The black interior is quite clean and complete. The size of the 300
makes it easy to take along family and friends, but the real
impression it gives is more of a lightweight quarter-mile king that
focuses on the driver. That's why you have bucket seats up front.
The grippy/thin three-spoke steering wheel gives you a clear view
of the factory package. You've also got a full set of auxiliary
readouts mounted cleanly under the dash. There's an upgraded tach
prominently mounted on top of the dash, and that goes well with the
Hurst floor shifter.
The reason why the 1963 car is so important is that it's the debut
year for the famous 427 big block. This was the top dog of its era,
and we love to see it filling up this engine bay. And underneath
the long air grabber is a dual set of four-barrel carburetors. This
one is also built to be a true driver with upgrades like the MSD
ignition and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. The hood and
trunk are even made of fiberglass to save weight, and the battery
is in the trunk for better distribution. The mighty big block fires
up eagerly, and the idle has a terrific power tune out of the dual
exhaust. Best of all, you get complete control over the big V8 and
its soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. This
feeds a Ford 9-inch rear end that's said to have versatile 3.56
gears. As you look underneath, you'll even notice traction bars and
a sway bar in the rear to help get the power confidently to the
pavement.
The legend of the Ford 300 is quite a cool street machine, and this
one really lives up to its muscle car history. So if you want to
know what it was like to be the king of the boulevard in '63, all
you need to do is call today!
