Vehicle Description
1990 Jaguar XJS Coupe
The Jaguar car is world famous for its stylish designs, thrilling
performance, luxurious and comfortable interiors, outstanding
handling and ride, quality engineering, and state-of-the-art
technology. No other automobile manufacturer has been as remarkably
successful at creating both the world's finest luxury sedans, as
well as some of the world's most beloved sports cars. The founder
of Jaguar Cars Ltd. was Sir William Lyons. His goal was to create
world class sports sedans with "grace, space, and pace." Lyons once
said, "The car is the closest thing we will ever create to
something that is alive."
In September of 1989 after the Ford Motor Company purchase, a
change came to the XJS and it was made to a special 5.3 liter,
(323cu), V12 engine with Zytek fuel injection and engine management
system. This enabled the car to have a top speed of 158 mph. Our
consignor and efficiency experts here at the Mall, also cannot get
this car to start...(could be an electronic fuel injection issue?).
Otherwise decent white pearl paint with a few faults, and leather
interior.
Exterior
White pearl paint showing some blemishes, particularly on the
passenger's side B pillar is a crack in the paint, otherwise
presented in fair condition. Chrome and badging is in fair
condition, showing some blemishes of early rust on the bumpers. The
rear glass is almost vertical and Jaguar designers added on some
"flying buttress" B pillars to smooth the transition from the
roofline to the trunkline. On the back, the rear taillights are on
each corner, with the passenger light broken.
Interior
Gray leather seats show some wear, mostly on the driver's side
which has some folding of the leather and an area on the driver's
door side bolster on the back that has a tear and shows the
interior foam. Carpeting is in fair condition with some staining
and fading of the light steel blue gray. All dash panel veneer is
showing in fair condition, and in the center console just below the
radio is some cracked areas that have become unglued possible from
water damage. This also exists behind the shifter. A Jaguar radio
cassette player is a bit rough with plenty of wear. In the back the
rear bench 2 plus 2 buckets with smooth center shows somewhat dirty
but no cracks or tears. Sadly, the door panels are non-existent,
and will need to be replaced.
Drivetrain
The 323ci V12 engine with fuel injection, delivers very smooth
power. Some slight corrosion on aluminum parts is seen, but
otherwise the engine is clean. A TH400 3 speed automatic
transmission drive the rear wheels that are attached to a 2.88 gear
rear axle.
Undercarriage
Rear independent suspension, and front independent suspension,
power disc brakes all around , and dual exhaust round out the
package, which appears in used but solid condition underneath, with
no rust on floor pan, or rockers, just faded patina metal aero
ground effects smooth panels.
With this car currently not able to start, we give you an As Is
version of the 1990 V12 sedan with hardtop. Some work will be
necessary to get back to the road, but when you do it you'll be the
proud owner of a Jag V12!
