As Cadillac transitioned into the 1980's, fuel economy was still a
high priority to meet with newly enacted CAFE (Corporate Average
Fuel Economy) standards. Particularly after the gas crunch of the
mid-1970's oil embargo. Cars needed to shed weight, have more
economical engines, and provide greater fuel efficiency. The huge
big block displacement engines were long gone and replaced by an
assortment of options to include a V6, a diesel V8, or a Digital
Fuel Injection V8 as options under the hood.
The upscale Fleetwood Brougham was now the last surviving
rear-wheel-drive Cadillac in the fleet, and midway thru 1985,
Cadillac would no longer offer the stylish Fleetwood Brougham
d'Elegance in a 2-door Coupe configuration. Only the 4-door
examples would continue, making these Coupes exceptionally hard to
find in good condition after more than 35 years have passed by.
Where the Sedans had a full-length vinyl top, the Coupes received a
unique Cabriolet style padded vinyl roof with special quarter
windows. Only 8,336 Coupes would come off the assembly line during
their final year of production, as compared to nearly 53,000 units
made as 4-door Sedans!
Offered here is a beautifully survived 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood
Brougham d'Elegance Coupe finished in original code correct 13T-
Platinum Silver over all original Garnet Red velour cloth interior!
It is powered by its original 4.1L Digital Fuel Injection V8 and
4-speed overdrive automatic transmission with 3.42:1 rear axle
ratio. Options and features include automatic climate control,
factory appointed 15" chrome wire spoke wheels, whitewall radial
tires, dual 8-way power seats, power windows & locks, power trunk
release & automatic pull down, electronic leveling rear suspension,
cruise control, rear window defrost, tilt/telescopic steering
column, remote outside mirrors, illuminated passenger vanity
mirror, Sentinel automatic headlight dimmer, AM/FM/Cassette stereo
system with power antenna, onboard trip computer, carpeted interior
floor mats, rear truck cargo mat, and theft deterrent system.
Boasting only 4 owners from new, this remains a remarkably original
example! The exterior paint finish is just beginning to show its
age being all original, with exception only to the trunk lid and
the upper portion of the driver's side quarter panel having been
refinished in the past. Inside the passenger compartment,
everything remains factory original and in excellent overall
condition! It sold new through Keyser Brothers Cadillac in
Williamsville, NY to its original female owner of Tonawanda, NY on
April 20th, 1985. She would take careful possession of her
treasured Cadillac and maintain ownership for the next 25 years
before passing it on to her son residing in North Carolina as a
gift in September 2010 with only 50,779 miles on the odometer.
This new lucky owner enjoyed the Cadillac sparingly for another 8
years before selling it in November 2018 with 55,412 miles to a
collector in Woodland, CA. This new owner would take the
opportunity to refurbish the original radiator, replace the coolant
hoses & coolant, install new OEM Walker exhaust system from the
original catalytic convertor back, fit it with new American Classic
whitewall tires measuring 215/75R15, change the valve cover
gaskets, engine oil & filter, fuel filter, adjust the belts, and
service the air conditioning system. He, too, would only drive this
beautiful Cadillac sparingly adding just a few hundred additional
miles after 2 years, then decided to sell it to the current 4th
owner in October 2020 with approximately 56,000 miles on the
odometer.
It will come complete with original owner's manuals, warranty
booklets, delivery check list, factory gold keys with original
punch-outs, audio instruction cassette, early & recent service
records, registration records, owner title copies, and the original
Keyser dealer badge removed from the trunk lid. The windows have
been tinted darker with an aftermarket film. It is in remarkable
condition and continues to impress mechanically! Give yourself just
