Vehicle Description
This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is a nut-&-bolt restored car and
comes with a file of photographs that clearly show the level of
restoration on all aspects of the car. This concours-caliber car is
as nice underneath as it is on top, which has all the correct
factory markings in place. The paint, trim and interior are show
restored with no visible flaws or other blemishes. All the trim and
brightwork is beautiful and everything works exactly as the factory
built it. The gauges were restored, and the fabric and seat
materials are restored to new. The 283ci V8 Twin Barrell Turbo Fire
engine is displaying the two 4-barrel carburetors that offers a
unique rumble when running and is backed by a 2-speed automatic
transmission. The battery and wiring are done to factory show
standards, and the engine bay detail is equal to that of the rest
of the car. All of the glass is excellent, and the power top fit
and finish is above reproach. This convertible has a lot of great
options, including fender skirts, twin-mast trunk-mounted radio
antennas, tissue dispenser, power windows and power brakes.
Additionally, it has a Continental kit, giving the car that extra
look that only the 1950s could provide. It has the original owner's
manual and the photo file with it. This Bel Air was owned by Glen
Delong of Hamburg, Pennsylvania for nearly ten years after he had
bought it from a long-term owner in Tennessee. Starting with a
rust-free original example, Delong funded a nut-and
bolt-restoration of the car, which was completed, and he finalized
the sale after his inspection of the car. Once complete, he showed
the car and won several awards with it including many best in class
and best in show awards. He always kept the car in
climate-controlled storage and never let the car see inclement
weather. It presents as well today as it did when completed a few
years ago. Over the last six weeks, the car has undergone a
complete inspection, change of fluids, sorting and a full on-lift
detailing. It is ready to be shown virtually anywhere and driven
with confidence of a safe and enjoyable drive.
