1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Is Retro Muscle Perfection -Motor
Trend, April 2020 Continuing their praise for the Z, the Motor
Trend writers went on: Time has been kind to the clean shape,
compact proportions, and excellent graphics. ... By 1985, the
IROC-Z hit the scene and quickly became the must-have F-Body, and
35 years later it's time to reexamine the mid-1980s Camaro with
fresh eyes (and a new wave of '80s nostalgia) .... Offered here in
a classic red over black-and-red combination is an '85 IROC-Z
perfectly emblematic of the model as well as the memorable decade
of the Eighties, but upgraded for 21st Century performance. This is
an original Missouri car (with later long-term ownership in
Michigan) in excellent overall condition. Perhaps its only flaw
worth noting is a mileage discrepancy on the Carfax, apparently the
result of a oil--change technician's fat fingers sometime back in
2013. In spite of the Carfax notation, the car's odometer has never
rolled over. The Z's exterior non-metallic red paint is in
beautiful condition across the entire body. The red paint's luster
is even and the shine is deep. That the ground-effect lower-body
trim (including the bespoke front spoiler) shows no damage and road
rash is a good measure of the owner's commitment to proper care and
respectful driving style. Panel fit is excellent within tight,
factory-correct tolerances. All IROC-Z and Camaro badging and
graphics are properly in place and in excellent condition. The
black hood enhancements, headlight surrounds, and grille are all
free of fading; the lower-body black trim-line is undamaged. Cabin
glass and lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks. The car
features keyless remote entry. Factory-original five-spoke alloy
wheels have been carefully maintained and show no curb rash. BF
Goodrich Sport Classic tires are mounted. Original body tags are
properly in place. Inside the car, the level of meticulous
owner-care is evident in the well-maintained condition of every
surface, and in the carefully selected upgrades to the audio system
and gauge package. The seat upholstery is black leather with a
vertically pleated design, a nod to the original '68 Z-car's look.
There are no signs of wear; no rips, tears, or worn spots on the
high-back front or the two rear bench-buckets. Cabin and cargo area
carpeting is bright red, all in very nearly new condition. Door
trim in red and black with the iconic Camaro logo treatment retains
its factory appearance. The car's original, Camaro-logo sport
steering wheel frames the upgraded AutoMeter® gauges located in the
factory dash openings. The center stack features the HVAC controls
(AC delivers an ice-cold breeze) above an upgraded Pioneer® audio
head unit in the factory-radio location. The console houses the
car's power-window controls and the shifter for the upgraded
5-speed Tremec® TKO manual transmission. Under the hood, installed
with the other upgrades just 8,000 miles back, is a GM ZZ 383
cubic-inch V8 powerplant producing 425 horsepower (far above what
any stock 80s Camaro would've delivered). The engine bay is
perfectly clean with all components properly in place, and all
wiring and coolant hoses properly routed. It's clear this build was
