Ultra-low mileage, loaded, and exceptionally original - this 2005
Dodge Magnum is an impressively preserved modern classic. Of
course, when you have such a distinctly styled car that was born
with a fuel-injected Hemi V8, then you also know why it should be
treated as a collectible from day one.
The reason why the thoughts of collectability immediately come to
mind is because of the exceptional presentation of this example. It
has barely averaged over 500 miles annually, and that means its
life has been about careful occasional trips as opposed to the
daily school run. So the factory Magnesium Pearl paint retains a
showroom level of shine. But you want this for more than just pure
preservation. We all know V8 grocery-getters make for awesome
muscle car classics, but it's almost hard to call the Magnum a
wagon. The tapered roofline really made these into long fastback
machines. And there are terrific sports car details. This has the
crosshair grille, bright dual exhaust tips, aggressively flared
wheel arches, and large 18-inch wheels. It's a true modern muscle
car.
Inside is a loaded and versatile machine. It utilizes Chrysler's
platform for full-size cars, and so you get room for adults in the
back. And there's plenty of room in the rear for plenty of cargo -
ideal for everything from tailgating to a golf weekend. But even if
you're just driving solo, you'll enjoy this Dodge. It's loaded with
all the right features, including power front seats, power windows,
power locks, keyless entry/alarm, dual airbags, cup holders, cruise
control, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and dual-zone A/C climate control.
Because this is such a low mileage machine, everything has a stock
and time capsule-like presentation. So even the leather on the
driver's seat looks fantastic. But while this is exceptionally
preserved, the view from behind the white-faced gauges will
absolutely remind you that this is a driver's car.
Under the hood is what makes the Magnum such a great modern
classic. As a performance R/T model, this has the fuel-injected
5.7-liter Hemi V8. It looks just as fresh, clean, and correct as
the rest of this time capsule car. More importantly, this Hemi
really lives up to its muscle car heritage by being rated at 340
horsepower right out of the box. That also means a great muscle car
sound out of the dual exhaust. But the real desire is what a modern
car can do with all this power. The five-speed automatic
transmission gives it the right gearing to be both a fast mover and
an overdrive cruiser. Plus, you get a fully independent suspension
for good handling. Add in power steering, four-wheel disc brakes,
and ABS, and you may not be able to resist adding to the low
odometer.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet. When a car
that's both powerful and practical has been frozen in time like
this one, you know it's your opportunity at something truly unique.
