Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Wow! Hard to find next-to-last year Isuzu Vehicross!
Running, driving, complete project great for restoration or
off-road build! Striking custom purple metallic paint job and
chrome Isuzu alloys!
BODY OVERVIEW: If you know Vehicrosses, you know they were seeing
frequent offroad abuse straight off the Isuzu lot when they were
new. This Vehicross isn't a show piece, but the body is in
surprisingly good condition for the age and mileage. There are some
dings and dents here and there, most notably on the hood, but this
vehicle would be very receptive to a restoration with a little body
work.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: Repainted in the current purple metallic
at some point in the past, you can see in the door jambs and under
the hood that this was a very rare Firefox Red Mica vehicle
originally. Just one of 90 produced for the US market in 2000! The
current purple paint job appears to be an older respray, but has
held up well and still has a good shine to it. The black plastics
(including bumpers) are in fair condition, but are showing age and
minor damage as expected of an Isuzu this vintage.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: Just like the exterior, the interior
is in reasonably good condition for an Isuzu from this era. There
is a split seam in the driver's seat, and normal wear on other
parts of the interior as would be expected. Overall, the interior
is complete and would be a great starting point for a restoration,
or perhaps it would be good to go as is for an offroad build.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: The Isuzu 3.5 liter V6 was replaced in 2017
with a lower mileage, good used unit from a Trooper. This engine
reportedly has 79,000 miles on it. This vehicle runs well, and has
a surprisingly good amount of torque! Other than the engine, other
major mechanical components appear to be original to this
vehicle.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a fun, quirky car painted
in a funky, fun color that is sure to be a conversation
starter!
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If you're looking for a
turn-key vehicle in need of no repairs, this is not the car for
you.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? This Vehicross runs and drives, but should
be considered something of a project vehicle. The heat, air, horn,
and radio are not currently operational. The Check Engine light is
on at all times, though the vehicle seems to run fine. Both side
windows will go up and down, but do so very poorly. Additionally,
there are a handful of other minor mechanical fixes that should be
addressed.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Whether you want a somewhat
rare example of an already rare vehicle to restore to factory spec,
or a solid example of a Vehicross to turn into the ultimate offroad
machine, this may be the car for you. If you're looking for a
vehicle you can hop in and drive to Florida, this probably isn't
it.
