turn on your business advertising or your collection with this
Model A, formerly owned by actress Mary Tyler Moore with its
updated V6 power plant. This one of a kind ?woody? can be driven
most anywhere at cruising speeds. This Model A has a hand-crafted
wood body and was originally built to use at the Lake George
tourist area in upstate New York and then fully restored in 1991
for Mary Tyler Moore. It seats between eight and 10 people and
would make a great tourist transporter with V6 power and automatic
transmission. This truck was titled in Moore?s name as a 1984 Ford
and the passenger side instrument panel bears her autograph and
that title is still included with the current clean and clear
Missouri title. Dressed in green over black wings, the steel
sections of this Model A are in overall excellent order, as are the
wooden sections, which have been lovingly cared for through the
decades with only very minor wear. The bodywork is straight and
solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the wagon?s two-tiered
chrome bumpers look great. The roof is rubberized, there are dual
cowl lights and two pairs of exterior sideview mirrors. There is a
Boyce Motometer atop the radiator and a foldable external luggage
rack out back. Rolling on Lester wide whitewall bias-ply tires,
size 6.00-16, each tire is mounted on a yellow factory wire wheel
with chrome V8 center caps. There are two side-mounted spare tires
mounted on two more yellow factory wire wheels. All wheels and
tires are good original order. This Model A has an independent
front suspension and a leaf spring rear suspension with air shock
absorbers. Under the vee?d hood is a Buick 231 CID V-6 with
high-energy ignition (HEI) distributor. The motor is tied to a
three-speed automatic transmission and backed by a Chevrolet rear
end. Inside, the brown leather interior is inviting. The foldable
front seats and booth-like rear benches are all finished in leather
and are in very good order, as is the brown carpet below. The
wooden headliner above the seats is gorgeous. A modern Ford,
four-spoke steering wheels rests on what appears to be a GM
steering column, ignition switch and turn signal lever. The
steering wheel and instrument panel are in excellent shape but the
speedometer and fuel gauge are inoperable. A floor-mounted shifter
for the automatic transmission completes the interior. This
modified Model A would make an ideal rolling billboard for a small
business, especially if it involves tourism. If the next owner
happens to be a Mary Tyler Moore fan, that would just be an extra
bonus. Bring Rhoda Morgenstern or the gang at WJM-TV and check out
