Vehicle Description
A 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible in a fantastic triple black
is already an attractive idea when you want a mean machine
drop-top. And as you dig a little deeper, you'll discover that this
backs up its aggressive style with a performance-built
fuel-injected big block, a five-speed to control it, and an
upgraded suspension w/four-wheel disc brakes. It makes for a slick
restomod that's equal parts intimidation and award-worthy.
The first impression is a mix of speed and sophistication. The '66
cars blend artful touches (like the subtle Coke-bottle curves) with
subtle aggression (like the intimidating overhang on the hood.) And
this one really does it right. There's less than 3,800 miles on
this build, and so the black paint has that instant look of quality
that comes from a large recent investment. Before they even laid
down the color, they made sure it had a good canvas with straight
sheetmetal and good gaps all around. Mirror-like bumpers, crystal
clear headlights, and an amazing fit of the convertible roof shows
there's no detail that has gone unnoticed. It has an aggressive
look that earns its SS upgrade, including the blacked-out grille,
hood vent trim, ribbed rocker panels, and all the correct badging -
right down to the Super Sport scripts on the rear fender. And the
added red pinstripe loves to highlight the curves of the profile as
well as go with the brake calipers. Plus, for added aggression and
shine, there are the US Mags wheels done with a 18/20 inch stagger
front/rear for a terrific stance.
Beneath the crisp black roof is a nice black interior. So with the
exterior, roof, and interior all deep and dark, this one completes
the upgrade to the ultra-desirable triple-black! And because this
is a restomod, the seats have been upgraded to new units with far
better bolstering and finished in supple ultraleather. You'll also
see thoughtful detailing, like the red stitching to go with the
exterior accents. Even the trunk is done to match. There are some
nice upgrades in comfort, like the cup holder center console and an
AM/FM/XM radio with USB and Bluetooth. But the moment you sit down
in the bucket seat, you know this one is all about being a driver's
car. You have a Billet steering wheel on tilt column, Hurst
shifter, a dash dominated by AutoMeter Pro-Comp gauges, and an EFI
tuner in the glovebox.
Under the hood is a very clean and mean powerhouse. The exterior
badging might say 396, but this is really a fully built 511
cubic-inch big block V8, custom built by Box Performance just
outside of Cleveland, OHIO. And not only do you get more
displacement, but also there are more go-fast goodies. It was
enhanced and fortified with an Erson hydraulic roller cam, Erson
roller lifters, a forged crank, Pro-Filer aluminum heads, H-beam
rods, and Mahle pistons with 10.25:1 compression. It's also
supported by the right pieces, like a serpentine belt setup and an
aluminum radiator w/electric fans. The Holley programmable
electronic fuel injection system gives you the best in power and
consistency. And there's long tube headers to make sure this
awesome powerhouse gets to exhale with the big power and a
thundering authority. Best of all, you are in firm control thanks
to the five-speed manual transmission. Plus, there's power
steering, the grip of modern sport tires, and a four-wheel power
disc brakes package with drilled & slotted rotors.
The sale comes complete with an engine build breakdown summary,
