Vehicle Description
At the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show, Alfa Romeo unveiled a stunning and
evocative new concept car that drew heavily from the company's vast
sporting heritage and tugged on the heartstrings of die-hard
Alfisti around the world. The curvaceous two-seat coupe harkened
back to a time when Alfas dominated sports car racing, and even the
name8C Competizionewas plucked directly from Alfa Romeo's storied
past. At the time, Alfa enthusiasts were desperate for a new
flagship from the Milanese firm. Since leaving the US market in
1995, Alfa concentrated its efforts on mid-market, executive
sedans, and stylish coupes sharing a common front-drive platform.
They were, by many accounts, upmarket Fiat products that, while
undoubtedly capable, lacked the magic that endeared many to Alfa
Romeo over the years. As soon as the covers came off, the press and
public begged Alfa to put the stunning 8C coupe into production.
Amazingly, the bosses at parent company Fiat were listening, and in
October, Alfa unveiled an updated production version to the world
at the Paris Salon. Thankfully, Alfa Romeo engineers had free rein
to develop the concept for the road, and they certainly didn't hold
back. They designed a bespoke steel chassis structure clothed in
carbon fiber for strength and weight management. Alfa Romeo's chief
designer, Wolfgang Egger, created the sumptuous coke-bottle styling
that was a perfect balance of modern design with retro touches. Up
front sat the first version of the Ferrari-manufactured 4.7-liter,
32-valve V8, that was later shared with Maserati. In classic Alfa
tradition, this magnificent engine drove a rear-mounted transaxle
gearbox for optimal weight distribution. The six-speed,
paddle-actuated "Superfast" 'box was shared with the Ferrari 599
Fiorano, delivering lightning-fast shifts across a wide array of
settings. With 444 brake horsepower at 7,000 rpm, the Alfa 8C was
undoubtedly rapid, yet also luxuriously trimmed and visually
stunning, and fans likened it to Alfa Romeo's reincarnation of the
Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. Alfa Romeo strictly limited 8C
Competizione production to just 500 units worldwide. Of those 500,
only 84 US-specification cars were made available through select
Ferrari and Maserati dealers, all of which got snapped up as soon
as the car was announced, and the 8C Competizione was an "Instant
Collectible." No more cars can enter the USA until 2033, as
non-Federal examples are not eligible for import under current show
and display regulations, so when the rare opportunity to acquire an
8C presents itself, swift action is recommended. This 2008 8C
Competizione is one of justtwoNorth American cars delivered in this
striking shade of Pearl Yellow and is one of just ten worldwide.
Car #40149 is exceptionally well-documented, with two owners and

meticulous owner who assembled an extraordinarily detailed record
of the car's history, and it includes full service history and
factory build documents. The window sticker shows it was well
specced with desirable features including: Bose premium sound
system Yellow Calipers Full carbon kit Sports package Special
metallic paint Black woven leather 8C stitching Leather headlining
Thanks to years of meticulous care, 40149 remains virtually in
showroom-fresh condition inside and out, with gorgeous paintwork
and trim. In natural light, the paint's pearl effect highlights the
body's curves, providing a more sophisticated feel compared to the
straight yellow colors of its stablemates. The body is in
impeccable order, with features likequadrifoglioshields on the
front wings and the glorious 20-inch alloy wheels that subtly echo
the shape of the four-leaf clover. Inside, carbon-backed sport
seats are covered in optional woven black leather trim. The
legendary Italian furniture design house Poltrona Frau supplied the
exquisite basketweave leather, and the seats also wear embroidered
Alfa Romeo badges and contrasting white stitching. Records show the
interior "sticky parts" have been addressed, and the remainder of
the cabin is immaculate. Carbon fiber and alloy trim feature on the
dash and console, and a lovely stylized badge denotes this as one
of 500 cars produced. Detailed logs and receipts show that 40149
has been meticulously maintained, and it runs and drives
exceptionally well. With its focused, sports-oriented
short-wheelbase chassis, drop-dead gorgeous looks, outrageous turn
of speed, and spine tingling V8 soundtrack, the 8C is simply one of
the most desirable sports cars in recent memory. With just over
4,000 miles from new, 8C Competizione #40149 is a superb specimen
in every respect, backed by detailed ownership records, original
books, spare key, front plate bracket, factory battery maintainer,
factory car cover, and photos. Alfa 8C owners rarely part with
their cars, so the opportunity to acquire this stunning example
should not be missed. Offers welcome and trades considered For
