Patina'd, lowered, and ready to cruise - this 1964 Volkswagen
Beetle offers some serious distinction even in a crowd of Bugs for
a seriously affordable price.
VW fans tend to separate the early cars (pre-1967) from the later
cars, and so examples like this one remain at the top of many wish
lists. We might have been able to call this color something close
to Sea Blue a long time ago, but instead, it now has the perfect
patina that everyone loves to see at the car shows. In fact, the
aged-in appearance is the catalyst for getting to tell people the
story we were told on this one. It was stored in a garage for 20+
years before being resurrected in 2018. There was a mechanical
restoration to make this one a more comfortable driver, and that
nature is reflected in the lowered stance and upgraded tires. But
they left the overall classic style of the big headlight cars that
just makes this such an endearing classic.
The interior strikes the right balance of vintage and new.
Fundamentals like the door panels, headliner, and carpeting have a
fresh feel to make this a nice place to spend some time. And the
seating has been completely redone to even provide better
bolstering. There are also well-integrated upgrades like LED
interior lighting and a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner
w/Bluetooth. But this also retains the right originality for
vintage appeal. You see it across the full dash including the
dual-spoke steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest and central VDO
speedometer.
The engine bay has the fresh look. There has been over 3k invested
over the last few years with the professionals at Doug's Buggs and
Bunnies. It includes an engine rebuild to make this a 1776cc unit.
That's larger than anything VW offered on these Beetles, and so it
feels nippy in the lightweight Bug. You get to take control over
all of this thanks to a Freeway Flyer four-speed transmission,
which as the name suggests, is geared to better handle modern
highways and freeways. The servicing also included beams, torsion
springs, steering damper, and bushings to keep this one feeling
confident on the road. Those cool blue wheels draw attention to the
wider stance and modern tires, and you even have a front disc brake
upgrade. So this is the kind of total package that loves to
run.
Complete with build receipts, this is the ideal blend of custom,
vintage, and affordable. You know you're supposed to pay a lot more
for a head-turning Beetle like this, and so you also know how quick
you have to be to snatch up this deal. Call today!!!
