1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
The paint and interior are in Concours condition. It's that
beautiful. Roman Red Roadster with Ermine White coves. Black
Interior and White Soft Top. All Corvettes built in 1961 were
Convertibles.
Matching numbers 283/230hp engine with correct CQ code stamp,
matched to a smooth 4 speed transmission and correct shifter
linkage.
We like the 283 which was really dialed-in by 1961. The
valve-in-head V8's have 3.88" bore and 3.0" stroke, precision
balanced assembly. All 283ci have independent operating mechanism
for each valve, precision-machined forged steel crankshaft, five
main bearings, full-pressure lubrication system, full-flow oil
filter, 12-volt electrical system, full dual exhaust, oil-wetted,
polyurethane element, buffed aluminum air cleaner and all-aluminum
cross-flow radiator.
Options include an upgraded Custom Auto Sound AM/FM Cassette
Player, smaller diameter leather wrapped black steering wheel,
heater, wide white wall tires and full wheel covers.
Underneath you'll recognize the box-girder, X-member reinforced
frame, independent coil spring front suspension with stabilizer
bar. rear suspension bi-radius rods and outrigger-mounted semi
elliptic leaf springs with stabilizer bar, unit-balanced tubular
propeller shaft and universal joints, hydraulic 11-inch
self-energizing brakes with fade-resistant bonded linings.
Hand-operated parking brake on rear wheels and the 16.4-gallon fuel
tank.
This car spent most of its life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, therefore the
condition is of true Southern cars free from corrosion.
