Vehicle Description
1970 CHEVROLET CORVETTE COUPE The year 1970 proved to be the peak
of the muscle car era. All manner of machinery roamed the streets,
powered by engines displacing as much as 455 CI and serving up
unprecedented horsepower and torque. Corvette had long been at the
vanguard of production big-cube power, beginning with the 1965
396/425 HP L78 and culminating in 1969 with the last of the 427/435
HP tri-power L71s. In 1970, only 4,473 Corvettes were produced with
the RPO LS5 454 CI V-8 engine rated at 390 HP and 500 lb-ft of
sheer, pavement-melting torque. In addition to the Corvette's
awesome performance potential with the LS5, Road & Track magazine's
road tester described the LS5 as "... by far the most tractable
big-block Corvette unit we've tried." This Current owner of this
significant Corvette acquired the vehicle from Chevrolet Leasing on
5/18/1971. It has been owned and maintained in Southern California
