In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the
factory would have. They utilized the Monte Carlo SS front end on
the El Camino. Now this affordable example of a factory-backed
custom build delivers terrific features like a loaded A/C interior
and extra V8 power.
There's a pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a
Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. They were rare. It's believed there
were less than 5,000 produced over a five-year period. But more
than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's
a GM-backed custom build. We all think utilizing the
NASCAR-inspired aerodynamics of the Monte Carlo SS would be a
no-brainer on the similar El Camino, but instead Chevy sent
production to be hand completed at Choo-Choo's facility before
being sold through GM's dealers. The Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS
package included the aerodynamic front, special Designer Series
door handle inserts, and a power bulge hood. But even if you didn't
know how special this vehicle was, you'd find it quite attractive.
The black paint gives it a striking look. It has the right mix
where there's a nice gloss to show off on of the sleekest
generations of El Caminos, but there's the right hints of age to
make sure you're not nervous driving it. Plus, the bed liner and
bright bed rails add both utility and style to this pickup. Add in
Boyd's 15-inch polished alloys, and you have a classic that looks
far more substantial than its affordable price.
The interior is a nice mix of premium and sporty. It starts with
dual bucket seats finished in a fresh and plush velour, and there's
a center console in-between. This El Camino comes with great
factory features such as power windows, power locks, a tilt
steering column, cruise control, and cold-blowing air conditioning.
Plus, you have an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo that includes Bluetooth
and a full upgraded speaker system.
Under the hood you'll find a truly great driver's upgrade. The
largest factory engine of these years was a 305 cubic-inch V8. But
this one has been upgraded to a 350ci unit. Topped with a
four-barrel carburetor, this makes for good pep in a strong-running
package. So you'll love this El Camino as an easy all-day cruiser
with features such as power steering, power brakes, front discs,
and a three-speed automatic transmission.
Complete with owner's manual, this distinct Choo-Choo El Camino is
exactly what you're looking for when you want to stand out. Which
is why we know it won't stay here long at this price. Call
