Vehicle Description
Corvette fans, you don't need a score card with this stunning 1967
convertible, it's definitely the car you've been waiting for. With
a dialed-in, top-level restoration, this numbers-matching 327 L79
V8/4-speed convertible is the pinnacle of mid-year Corvette
performance, all wrapped in a stunning Sunfire Yellow package. Hang
on, you're gonna say, "Wow!" quite a bit here.
With a 4-year complete nut-and-bolt restoration recently completed
in June of 2020, this Corvette absolutely glistens under our
showroom lights. Knowing how desirable a matching-numbers mid-year
Corvette roadster can be, this one received some of the best of
everything during the complete restoration. The fiberglass was
restored by some pretty talented guys and although the panel
alignment isn't 100% perfect, it wasn't in 1967 either, so you're
getting a very faithful representation of what one of these
beauties looked like brand new. Using modern paints means that it
has an impressive shine and Sunfire Yellow is just right, not too
bright and not too pastel. The body on this car is breathtakingly
clean, with smooth lines, sharp creases, and deep paint -
everything befitting the price tag. And if you take a quick look at
the restoration phots, you'll see that all the work was done right
and will stand the test of time. Not only is the finish quite nice,
it's downright impressive, with only the tiniest of imperfections
to speak of in the paint. Additionally of note, the sidepipes are
brand new factory reproduction pieces and they resisted the urge to
add an incorrect stinger hood like so many other restored 'Vettes.
All the chrome was refinished to show standards and still shines up
beautifully, the headlight doors fit flush, and the side glass is
actually still original to the car. They were definitely sweating
the details with this one.
The standard black interior is anything but ordinary, with handsome
leather bucket seats flanking a factory center console that looks
quite appropriate inside the sporty cabin. The gauges were all
restored with the rest of the car and show highly detailed markings
and nicely polished lenses, all visible through the spokes of that
slick woodgrained, 3-spoke steering wheel. Plush black carpets and
restored original door panels and factory dash pad, and other soft
parts were all attended to during the restoration and still look
fantastic with almost no signs of use since the work was completed.
Even the glove box and AM/FM radio are restored original pieces,
and everything is working just as it should inside. In fact, we
can't tell which part of this car is more impressive - the inside
or the outside. The good thing for you is they were both finished
to the highest of standards, and both complement each other very
nicely. The chrome shifter rocks through the gears of the 4-speed
Muncie underneath and feels virtually indestructible, particularly
behind that peppy small block V8. A black convertible top fits snug
when snapped onto the windshield and stows away neatly out-of-sight
underneath the factory cap.
That's the original, numbers-matching L79 327 cubic inch V8 under
hood, which was rated at a rather stout 350 horsepower straight out
of the factory. Built to rev, it was one of the first
high-horsepower small blocks to get a high-lift hydraulic cam, so
it's easy to maintain yet still sings to redline without a hiccup.
Beautifully detailed, it shows little evidence of having been
driven; the Chevy Orange paint is still bright and shiny, the
chrome is clear, and all the decals are still in place. Finned
aluminum valve covers remind onlookers that this is no ordinary
small block and the ram's horn exhaust manifolds have been coated
for a long life and an authentic cast iron look. It's backed by the
original Muncie 4-speed manual and rear axle, all of which have
been rebuilt and detailed for show along with the powder-coated
frame and suspension. And that very suspension and power 4-wheel
disc brake system is all fresh too, ready to be shown off at the
next car show. Kelsey-Hayes reproduction wheels with 205/70/15
redline radials round out a very impressive presentation.
If you like to drive, this L79 is the mid-year Corvette that will
delight you every time you slide behind the wheel. It's also a
pretty smart investment at an attractive price. Call today!
